I am a multidisciplinary artist, born in İstanbul. I studied marbling, calligraphy, miniature and fresco during my undergraduate education at fine arts university in Istanbul. I got my Master of Arts degree at Accademia di belle arti di Brera di Milano on “Visual Arts”. For many years I have been worked in various art works such as fresco, restoration and marbling. I do the marbling course in my own studio with my wife who is a designer and interior architect.

My husband and I went to Ersen’s apartment to learn about the beautiful art of marbled paper that you see everywhere around Florence. His wife, Mergul, whose English is impeccable, and Ersen were true artists. They were passionate about transmitting their knowledge and they showed us patiently all the techniques that are used in the art of marbled paper. We were each able to execute all techniques and then end up taking all Our creations. This is a unique experience because the materials needed to reproduce this type
of art are very hard to find. Also, Mergul and Ersen are very calm, patient, and generous with their knowledge and space. This felt like a private, master art class. Hghly reccommended!

It was great experience! We could not only try to do marbling paper but also listen to the history about marbling and the difference Turkish ubra and Florentine marbling. It was really fascinating, I’ll recommend this activity to everyone who is looking for something fun to do in Florence.

I thoroughly enjoyed this experience. Although Erson was unavailable to give the lesion, his wife was a fantastic teacher. The little PowerPoint presentation was an informative background. The demonstration was useful & helped prepare me to do each step myself. I loved being able to practice each style & felt a sense of pride as I tried to improve my technique each time. I love my creations & had a wonderful time. I would do this again!
