What you'll do

We’ll meet at my mountain house, Base Camp at 9700' (coming soon on Airbnb) with quick introductions, review hike details, use restrooms, fill water, and make sure everyone is comfortable and has the right clothing and gear. The average hike is 6-11 miles round trip with an elevation gain of 2000' - 3,500'. Miles and elevation gain depends on if we want to add in the summit of a 13,000' mountain. The hike will start from or very close to the house and will be predetermined based group experience and dynamics. The current weather conditions at the time of the experience could change our route or destination. Most likely we will go to my favorite hike that will take us up a gulch and remote area of the forest to a secluded mountain lake. On our hike, I'll point out any fresh animal tracks, signs, or scat of deer, moose, elk, bear, goats or other wildlife and hope to keep safe distance from all. I'll take candid pictures along the way and will share with all in the group. I'll carry extra gear and provide lunch and snacks mid-way through the hike. To acclimate to the altitude, this experience can be enhanced by booking your accommodations at Base Camp 9700' (coming soon) on Airb

I moved to Denver from Cincinnati in 2004 and have explored ski slopes, hikes, rafting, mountain biking, backpacking, camping, music, and more. A temporary move from Denver to NYC from 2010-2013 reconfirmed Colorado and the Rocky Mountain Region is a place to call home. An Accountant/CPA for over 15 years, I kicked away the desk chair and started a Handyman and Home Inspector business that allows for more flexibility to explore the great outdoors. I've successfully met requirements to perform Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED and have recently completed training in Wilderness First Aid.

I really enjoyed this fantastic truly secluded hike. Lunch was delicious and perfect break at the lake. Dave was knowledgeable about the area and educated us about animal tracks and scat. The views were beautiful and the hike was challenging but equally rewarding of any 14ers I’ve done. I was thankful I decided to bring my hiking poles to navigate the steep terrain at points. I have a 10 yr old black lab/boxer in good shape, and a 7 yr old Chihuahua mix and both were able to navigate the hike and had a blast. Thank you Dave for a great day I love my quads are sore!!!
