What you'll do

Kamloops or Tk’emlúps, in Secwepemc, our local indigenous language, means "where the rivers meet". We are the perfect stopping point, midway on your journey, between Vancouver BC and Banff or Jasper. Join us for a Sagebrush Picnic, an easy walking tour through our spectacularly unusual desert grassland hillsides culminating in an old fashioned blanket picnic with sweeping vistas, gourmet goodies & wild edibles to share. Good for all fitness levels, spend time relaxing with Alexandra in the beautiful natural surroundings as she prepares our lunch and learn how to pick and wrap a traditional sagebrush smudge or take off with Colin and climb into the hills to capture a gorgeous upper level view. Your picnic will include local artisan breads and cheeses, organic mixed greens for sandwiches, veggies & dip, lacto-fermented pickles, hand made organic preserves, fresh creamery butter, oatmeal muffins, (wheat-free), seasonal fruit and iced herbal fruit water. Carry your own beverage of choice - ask us to recommend a tour of a local winery or brewery nearby! This experience is equally suited for a healthy Grandma and little miss Sunshine as it is for an eco adventurer who loves to hike!
Other things to note
If weather is entirely unpleasant, we will relocate to Made with Love Urban Farm & share our picnic as an indoor farm table meal in our Great Room. Please dress appropriately for a day spent outside!

Where you'll be

We'll visit a spectacular landmark, referred to as the Hoodoos: majestic red sandstone structures. Centuries of erosion have created these intriguing rock formations, only a short distance from the center of Kamloops, BC Canada. These sagebrush hills overlook the CN railway, scenic farmer's fields and the beautiful Thompson River flowing into Kamloops Lake. We will even lead you to a secret spot where a huge eagle's nest is easily photographed.
