The seasons change quickly in the north - there is not 4, but 8 seasons here! I want to give you an understanding of what it takes to adapt to the changes, as well as give you tastes that signifies the different seasons.

We will walk in the nearby forest and meadows (total walk appx 1,5 km). When I moved from Stockholm to Jokkmokk just above the Arctic Circle more than 30 years ago, I knew I had found my forever home. Since then I have been probing deep into the wonderful local culture, nature and history.

My biggest passion and profession since 12 years ago is foraging flavors from the nature, especially wild herbs and berries which I forage, refine and give classes about. As a food and culture connoisseur, I organize guided taste tours and workshops all year. I frequently share my knowledge in national radio as well as in magazines worldwide.

On my tours we discover the local everyday life as well as the wild nature filled with herbs and berries foraged. I love to share the essence of Lapland in a personal, informative way that will stimulate all your senses!

Where you'll be

The outdoor tour starts in the pine forest and down by the small lake where Jokkmokk citizens love to have their walks. Tours in the summer include a visit to the nearby Alpine Flower Garden. Tours in the winter may include a visit to my neighbor's reindeer corral or to the magical bird place in the forest.

This week we met Eva in Jokkmokk for the small Gourmet-Tour. She is a really sympathetic and enthusiastic women, she loves do that what she is doing, you will feel that. What we loved, was a mix of history, walking through the forest and tasting herbs and fruits in her home. We even learned a lot about the plants and the tastes of many of them. Her home is so cozy and authentic and we tastes more than ten different things, from herbs above reindeer, liquor up to homemade crackers and tea. Actually she is doing everything on her own, which is quite impressive and creative. At the end she even sang for us traditional Sami Song. We enjoyed the trip and we can recommend this to everybody who is interested in Food and herbs. Thanks Eva for the tastes and your personality.

Eva is very knowledgeable about her stuff and well prepared for the session with us. She is passionate about what she is sharing with us, not just the flowers and plants etc, but also the environment and her past experience and dealing with the Sami. She is our window to learn more about the Lapland, its environment, people, culture, food and ways of life.
