What you'll do
Whether you are training for an upcoming polar expedition or simply looking to learn some new skills our Polar Expedition Training is the best way to build your cold weather confidence and back country winter camping skills. We cover everything from polar clothing and equipment systems, to navigation, safety systems, food / menu planning, cooking, camping routines, efficiency, and travel by ski and sled. Our days will be filled cross country skiing towing individual sleds packed with our supplies. Evenings will be spent around a campfire, eating hearty meals and sharing stories from our polar expeditions and those of the early explorers (Shackleton, Amundsen, Scott, Peary...) During each day we make time for formal and informal classes and plenty of time to enjoy our surroundings. The beautiful lakes and woods of northern Minnesota are the perfect back drop for this adventure. Under the leadership of world class polar guides you'll acquire new skills, develop critical judgement and have a great time. Bring your sense of adventure and all the kit on our required clothing and equipment checklist because it can get downright COLD (think well below zero degrees Fahrenheit). Come ready for a challenge and excited to learn and you'll leave with new skills, new friends and memories that will last a lifetime.
