What you'll do

The basics of this experience is learning how not just to click, but taking photographs. And doing this in the open air museum that is Rome. We will walk through less known routes and see less touristy places. Of course we'll see well known places, but from a different angle. You will be shooting and I will give you advices and teach you how to do it well. I will take a portrait of each of you that I will send you via email after the tour. You can choose if to have the original picture or to have it processed in post production. The tour is scheduled as 5 hours long, but it might lasts longer, sometimes until sunset. We won't be in a rush, the important is to enjoy the experience and learn. During the tour we can stop for a little break in a place where you can have just a sandwich, or a cake, a slice of pizza, an ice cream or just a drink (these are not included in the price of the course), or just for some rest. After this pause we'll carry on until we have finished the tour or we have enough light left.
UPDATE: take the very rare chance to enjoy Rome without the sea of people that fill every spot daily (maybe until the next pandemics), before it's too late.
Other things to note
This course is about photography, so it's ok to bring your camera not your phone. Theory is one but it would be like trying to race in F1 with a bicycle. Remember a spare battery.

I was born here in Rome and I'm a freelance photographer, during the years I worked with several companies like the Nat Geo, just to name one. I've been photographing since I was a teenage, as my father and my grandfather used to do. At first a hobby, it became my profession, as well as graphics. After some time I decided to share my experience with people wanting to learn this art, so I started holding courses to spread this passion. It is something I'm quite good at, from what the guests say. Black & white my favourite, you can find me on Twitter at llfoto_ and Instagram at @llfoto.eu

Where you'll be

We'll start the tour from our meeting point downtown, and move along through the Aventino hill to follow a new path quite little known and used which offer great spots and chance to take great pictures. From there we will carry on towards the surroundings of Circo Massimo, Lungotevere and other places that offer unlimited chances to take photos. Remember: there always might be something going on!

Very good tour! Leonardo is very knowledgeable and gave a lot of insight. He exactly matched his tour to our experience, including some nice technical catch up over a coffee. We went to different sites of the city and there was never the feeling of a rush. Besides photography, Leonardo have insights of living on Rome, the city and life in Italy. He took a lot of time for us: thanks!

Be prepared to walk and discover new views of Rome! We had a full day with just 2 of us and Leonardo. He was informative, patient and helped us beginners to understand our cameras ( both theory and practice). I would do again!

I learned a lot from Leonardo during this photography lesson. He knows a lot of techniques on how to get the ideal photograph. He also knows a great deal about the city of Rome and its historical sites. I recommend this Airbnb experience!

This has been one of the best experiences that I've had on Airbnb, Leonardo is a great photography teacher, city guide and most importantly a great person with a great vibe and a sense of caring! In the tour he shared lots of photography techniques and explained me the histogram which helped me taking better photos and making sure that I keep enough details on each image. We visited places which oversee fascinating views of the city and that were very picturesque and took our time to complete the tour with no rush, we finished at the end of the afternoon. If you're interested in learning more about photography I highly recommend you take this tour, it's both a photo tour and a history one, also you'll have a great time with Leonardo. Thanks for creating this experience.

This was the great experience. Long journey and long fruitful lesson. We started early morning and finished closer to evening. Leonardo in details gave us his skill (we needed basic skills) how to tune the camera, how to work with the light, how to work with an object. Apart from the lesson we faced a splendid attitude and careful treatment. Separately he did marvelous photos of the family and all of this was crowned with the interesting excursion through the most significant parts of roman monuments. Thank you very much for such great day!
