This is the best way to get a true local experience of Oahu in just one day! Visit historical sites full of sacred energy (mana), learn about the culture of ancient Hawaiians and shop for the perfect souvenir as you tour around Oahu. And above all, come hungry! Nearly every one of the ten stops along the Island and You tour are paired with delicious Hawaiian meals and treats.

This circle-island tour takes you to some of the best views on the island, with stops including Kapiolani Park, the Makapu’u, Kualoa Beach Park and Puaena Point - to name a few. On top of that, we'll stop at five different meal and snack stops, allowing you to taste some of the island’s best flavors. Enjoy traditional Hawaiian favorites like poi and Kalua Pig at Waiahole Poi Factory, sample famous macadamia nuts and coffee at the Macadamia Nut Farm and more! Lastly, the tour gives you the important chance to connect to true Hawaii through a spiritual visit to Kukaniloko Birthstone State Monument.

Oahu is incredibly rich with experiences to offer. Make the most of your time in Hawaii and take a day to see, taste and feel it all!
Other things to note
I can only pick up in Waikiki. There must be at least 2 people booked to run the tour.

I sometimes have help running the tours from other hosts, and the group size sometimes expands beyond 10, due to other bookings. I will update you in this case.

Tour length is subject to change due to traffic.

I was born and raised on Maui in Hawaii. After moving to Oahu, I began working in the Tourism industry and I acquired many years of experience as a bilingual Japanese/English guide for various island tours. Being that I spent majority of my life on the Hawaiian Islands, I have accumulated vast amounts of knowledge about Hawaii and Hawaiian food. One of my great passions is to take people on tours around the island and share with them the food, history and culture of the islands!

My experience is co-hosted with my friends Yuji and Billy, who are also bilingual and local Hawaiian culture experts. Billy is known for his good sense of humor and Yuji for his wealth of knowledge.

Where you'll be

Of the 10 stops on the circle-island tour, some are popular Oahu locations. But others are locations usually only known to locals. We'll stop at a private beach that Oahu locals know is good for spotting sea turtles. I'll also give you an exclusive experience of Hawaiian food sampling from a small, little-known location in the countryside. Lastly, I'll share the significance of a state monument that many don't even know exist at our last stop.

This is by no means a bad tour, but it didn’t quite stand out, either. It is half a food tour and half a general sight-seeing tour and maybe it would have been stronger had it concentrated in one aspect or the other. The guide, Susumu, knew his spots and some extra information but never really felt like an expert, though he was easy-going and warm. The sites themselves were pretty good, but didn’t feel strongly connected to each other. I feel like a pure food tour (with a food expert) or a pure “spiritual sites” tour (with someone who could really go deep on the history and culture aspects would be great. I do think the tour was priced fairly considering you get a light breakfast, a snack, a full lunch, and another snack. If the tour stays the same, I will say that it would have been nice to have the tour end a little closer to its origin (Waikiki). The last 45 minutes or so of driving felt very anticlimactic. Overall, a solid experience with appropriate levels of professionalism and planning but not a “wow.”

John was a fantastic guide! He was extremely knowledgeable about the island. He did a fantastic job making my spouse and I feel included, especially since the rest of the group only spoke Japanese. We stopped at a lot of interesting places, and the best shrimp stand (even recommended by other locals on the island). We hit up a lot of locations, and learned about the island as we made our way around the east and north side. We saw monk seals, turtles and many fantastic views of the coast line. Even more exciting, we got to hit up a few locations that no other tours had stopped at. The food was great, and plenty of time to check out each stop before heading to the next one. I would highly recommend another tour with John! He made the tour fun, and enjoyable the whole time!

The hosts, Billy and John were so kind that we, the family including small kids, could have fun. I highly recommend those who have small kids to join in this tour.
