What you'll do

After brief introductions over tea or coffee on my spacious back deck (weather permitting), we'll do an ice-breaker exercise. This will be followed by a demonstration with explanations of equipment and techniques. Then you'll draw and paint a simple still life in my air-conditioned studio. After the first monochromatic still life you'll progress to painting either a still life or a scene in my lush Florida garden using an open palette. Or, if participants prefer, we can go to a nearby park to paint. I will guide you through the process from beginning to end with individual as well as group instruction. We will end with a supportive critique on my deck accompanied by birdsong and watched by my cat, Ms. Tigger. Each workshop lasts from 10 a.m to 4 p.m. The price of $180 includes beverages and snacks. This plan can be adapted according to participants' needs and specific interests.
Other things to note
Students with all levels of experience are welcome. This is an opportunity to immerse yourself in the art making process with other like minded individuals and learn from a seasoned art instructor.

Where you'll be

While much of our time will be spent in my painting studio or, weather permitting, on my deck (in North St Petersburg near downtown), we may go on a field trip to paint at a local park. We'll lunch together either on my deck or at a local Asian restaurant within walking distance of my studio. The restaurant provides reasonably priced and delicious take-out lunches of sushi or curries.
