What you'll do
From mid-November through just before Christmas, I run a special walking tour that shows off the best of Chicago's holiday spirit, and teaches about Chicago holiday traditions (with a sprinkling of traditions from around the world). I call it the "Christmas Tree Crawl" because we essentially look for the best and most beautiful Christmas trees in downtown Chicago -- and you're in luck, because I know where to find them! Along the way, we'll pop in and out of fantastic buildings, experiencing things like Chicago's famous Christkindlmarkt, old Marshall Field's holiday windows, and more! Guests will even experience a special Polish tradition with their host, Hillary, as she brings a little of her family's holiday tradition to you!

After working in Chicago tourism for six years, I started my own walking tour business called Inside Chicago Walking Tours in 2014 because I had discovered on my own how rich Chicago's architecture is at street level and inside! When it comes to Chicago tours, most people think of boats, but there is nothing better than walking up to and *into* buildings to see their art & architecture up close. Besides teaching and guiding, I love helping people find stuff in the city to do on their own as well: I swing dance for fun, so I like suggesting live music; I worked as a food-tasting tour guide for a couple years, so I like suggesting food, etc. And I'm a proud cat lady. :)

Where you'll be
We'll be seeing not only the well-known Christmas decorations like at Marshall Field's and the Christkindlmarkt, but also nearly unknown locations like a few lobbies that Hillary personally knows to be gorgeous at this time of year especially. She will select a few of these and offer guests insider access even on weekends!

Communication policy
Always communicate through Airbnb. To protect your payment, never transfer money or communicate outside of the Airbnb website or app.
Guest requirements
Up to 10 guests of all ages can attend.
Guests should be comfortable being on their feet for 2 hours, and should be aware that a stroller might slow down the group due to the holiday crowds we'll be navigating at times on the street.
More tips
If you think it'll be too cold, think again: we'll be popping in and out of buildings enough to warm ourselves up! In fact, Chicago's toasty interiors will make the winter air feel fresh!
