Maria’s painting classes are very unique in technique, and to visit the art supply was very helpful and interesting, this store had so many materials so her tips were very helpful. Her studio is very well equipped, and it was a very enjoyable few days, would definitely recommend to both beginners or advanced, as the pigments behave differently to tempera or watercolour, so it is just interesting to try out the different levels of grain. Maria’s English is like a first language, she is very fluent so very helpful with technical advice

As admirers of art, my colleague and I signed up for Maria’s class knowing little of this beautiful Japanese art tradition called Nihonga and we were granted access to an insider’s world of Japanese pigment painting. From the beginning to the end of it all, Maria was attentive, meticulous and absolutely delightful. She has thoughtfully answered all of our questions regarding the techniques and materials, demonstrating her deep knowledge of this tradition and at the same time, her contemporary approach to the art form was very inspiring. It is so different from the European and Chinese techniques we use in Singapore and it gave me an insight to the soul of Japanese art. We had such a fantastic time there!
