What you'll do

This program starts 9 AM finish around 12:30 PM.
In this cooking experience, we will take you to the “Kitchen of Kyoto”; Nishiki Market. We will buy a lot of ingredients for you to make ramen! Before buying ingredients, I will tell you some Japanese for shopping and make your opportunity to buy themselves at Japanese traditional market.

At first, I will meet you at the entrance of Nishiki Market at 9:00 AM.
Then we will go to buy Kyoto green onion(Kujo-negi), dried bonito and mackerel, fresh chicken thigh and eggs. In the end, you could mix your own shichimi (seven-spice powder).

When we finished shopping, we will take a taxi back to our ramen workshop Ramen Factory, and prepare to do your own ramen!

At Ramen Factory, you could process the ingredients which you bought from Nishiki Market, and make ramen noodles, boil the eggs, even make the Japanese seafood broth, all by yourself! Finally, sprinkle your own shichimi on the ramen, and enjoy it!

The price includes taxi fares, ingredients bought in the market and guiding fee.

Ramen will be lunch, it will also be for dinner, even for a late night meal. It is a meal that you can enjoy with ease in various scenes. I really would like people from all over the world to like it. I am studying English, so I would like to speak with many people! When I got home, I'm busy with 2boyscare.

Where you'll be

In the Nishiki food market tour, we will buy some food at different shops. Usually Nishiki market is very crowded. But we start 9 am. Half of shop for tourist are still close. We need the shops for professional. We can know about Nishiki market deeply.
After shopping, we will go to our work place "Ramen Factory Kyoto". Before opening our shop we prepare for our cooking process.

Our family (including two teenage boys) had a fantastic experience exploring the Nishiki market with Mai, buying the ingredients and exploring and sampling all the interesting, unique food and drink available. We then went onto the kitchen in a short taxi ride. Making the ramen was a lot of fun and very easy. A great experience as everyone was fully involved and the kitchen v organized and clean. Mai was a truly fantastic host. At all times very informative on all the million things we asked about the food and the Japanese culture and way of life. Her happy, welcoming personality absolutely made the day for us. A highlight of our two weeks in Japan.

My dad and I had a wonderful time with Nori at the Nishiki Market and also at the Ramen factory. The whole experience was actually more than just learning to cook ramen, we talked, laughed, exchanged our thoughts about what’s the difference about Ramen in China and japan. Totally cool. Thank you!

Mai & Michi were the best. It was so much fun to stroll around the market with Mai, shop the food and we also found the time to visit a temple before we went to the Ramen Factory. There I prepared & cooked my first own ramen with Michi and had so much fun doing so! Thank you both. It was really great. And all those who still think about doing it our not: you don't need to. Just book it. You will love it.

Best experience in Kyoto. You will not be disappointed- nori and Mai took excellent care of my children. They enjoyed every minute of our morning together. The facility is clean and a very nice teaching cooking studio. The boys said it is the best meal they have ever had and plan to make ramen a weekly meal back home!

Couldn’t have had a better experience! We went to the market and bought everything needed while being explained the ingredients and some traditions! Then we took a taxi (the place is a bit far but it doesn’t matter) and cooked the best ramen I’ve had! Would recommend 100%% So happy, thank you very much
