What you'll do

We will pick you up at our meeting point in central Queenstown. We will then drive out to the historic Kawarau River while giving a briefing of the activity and pointing out areas of special interest along the way. At the river we will firstly deliver a safety briefing before getting everyone suitably equipped to go Riverboarding. After posing for photos by the river we will head down to the training eddy to watch a demonstration of key boarding techniques before entering the River eddy (calm area) for skills training. Once everyone is trained and comfortable on the board we will leave the eddy to enter the mainflow of the river. On the river we travel in a small pod with a guide at the front to show the way and a guide at the back of the group to ensure the group stay together. The river is deep and fast flowing with exciting rapids such as ‘Maneater’, ‘Rollercoaster’ and ‘Dead Cow’. After travelling up to 12 km’s through exiting by rapids, enjoying some amazing scenery and trying some tricks such as rocket rolls, underwater flying or even surfing a standing wave we will drive back to base to get changed. It is then time to have a yarn about your experience before heading home
Other things to note
Basic swimming skills and confidence in water are required. Riverboarding is a physical activity which requires the ability to swim forward using fins (flippers)
