Ride to an Italian restaurant

Mathi Canavese, Italy

Experience hosted by Randi

4 hours
Includes food, transportation, equipment
Up to 2 people
Hosted in English, Italian, Norwegian

What you'll do

I bring small groups to a local restaurant, where we tie up the horses and enjoy a long lunch in the foot of the Alps! The horses are easy to ride and we will also visit the historical town of Balangero on our way to the restaurant. We sometimes see wild animals like birds, hare, deer and even snakes!
Other things to note
If you have any special needs concerning the food, please let me know. We can order a vegetarian menu. Please let me know your height and weight so I can choose the correct horse for each person.

I am a Norwegian woman (41) who lives in a charming town called Lanzo, just outside Turin. I´ve been discovering this fantastic region on horseback for 10 years. Now that I´ve got the national Equestrian tour leader certificate it´s time to share this fantastic landscape and restaurants with all of you. I am working for the equestrian centre called L`Erica which is a part of the association "A.C.E. turismo equestre" . My own horse is an Appendix, and she will guide you through all kind of landscapes.

Where you'll be

We start with going straight into the forest before arriving on the green fields above the small town called Balangero. Here you´ll get an amazing view of the Alps before we ride down an old muletrack. You´ll see the old church and the historical town from horseback, while we greet the locals in the tiny streets. After leaving the local restaurant we´ll follow a river in the forest before we take the rocky road towards the riding school.

It was the first time I was riding a horse since I was a child, and it has been great. No fear at all. I didnt feel obliged to go fast if I wasnt rassured. Randi chose the perfect horse and saddle for me to have a pleasant trip in the forest/fields. I highly recommend if you like nature, horses and good food !

Merci encore Randi!

This was a fantastic experience, I am so glad that my partner and I booked it! Randi is a phenomenal host and tour guide - so friendly and warm, and very knowledgeable about horses and the local area. Randi also speaks excellent English, if you don't know Italian, so it's super easy to communicate. The horses were wonderful - forward enough for experienced riders, and yet bomb-proof for beginners. The restaurant that we stopped at had delicious food, and we met some interesting local people too! We're vegetarian, and the restaurant was able to accommodate us. This was not the usual restaurant that Randi takes guests to, as that restaurant was closed on the day we went for our ride. Apparently the usual restaurant is even better, and has views of the horses as they are tied up, so anyone going on this experience on another day will be in for a treat! :) When we booked this experience, we had already been in Europe for 6 weeks, mostly visiting family and sightseeing around cities. While that's fun, we needed a break and wanted to get out to the countryside. Horse riding is one of our favourite activities, so this experience was perfect. The scenery is beautiful, the horses are trustworthy and surefooted, there is opportunity to break into a trot or canter at some points in the ride if you're more experienced, and Randi points out all sort of interesting things as you go along. The stable is easy to get to - we drove from Turin, and it was about 35-40 minutes. If you don't have a car, there is a good rail link to the town nearby, and Randi will pick you up. If you're looking to get out of the city and meet some wonderful people and horses, we highly recommend this experience!

This experience was a really nice one. I had no knowledge about riding horses but Randi took the time to explain me everything, including how to prepare the horse, and it was good to have some additional contact with the horse. It's very cool to cross the forest and the old town, and to alternate with grasslands where we could try trotting. I really recommend ! Thanks again Randi !

Wow! What an amazing experience. Me and my partner had such a wonderful and unique time with Randi. The ride out into the mountains was stunning, we saw wild deer, rabbits and even a snake. The views were incredible! I used to ride a lot and my partner second time and both of us had a great time, Randi caters to all and everyone's needs. The horses were kind, gentle and still had a lot of life. Thanks so much Randi, we hope to see you again! Leah and Sam
