What you'll do

We will leave Santiago towards the Mirador de Cóndores. After an hour, we will arrive at the Cajon del Maipo where the green of the landscape announces that we are approaching our destination.

The route continues for 30 more minutes to arrive at El Alfalfal, where the landscape has become rockier due to the altitude. It is at this point where our hike starts, through which we will visit plant formations such as scrub, sclerophyllous forest and steppe and we will watch native fauna such as the condor, birds known as little miners and reptiles.

Although the ascent is pronounced, we will make interpretation stops where we can regain strength. Once at the summit, we will have plenty of time to contemplate the panoramic view of the Colorado River valley, Tupungato volcano and the kings of this place: the Andean condors, planning in front of us alone or in groups.

Technical details:
Total distance: 10 km
Difficulty level: intermediate.
Approximate time: 2.5 hours one way and 1.5 hours back.
Altitude of starting point: 1,200 m
Altitude of endpoint: 2,031 m
Other things to note
- The hike is suitable for all types of public, but there are some sections with a lot of slopes. To facilitate the descent, we include trekking poles.
- It is not necessary to bring a camera, we will make you an album that we will send you by e-mail later.

Hello, I am Marblis, I am a communication specialist, a polyglot and for five years I have dedicated myself to travel Chile from the desert to Patagonia, first as an adventure tourism travel advisor when I fell in love with this crazy geography and then as a nature guide, for which I trained in techniques of minimal impact, native flora and facilitation of experiences in nature.

My main motivation in designing and guiding experiences in nature is to awake people's sensibility, showing how interconnected we are all living beings on the planet.

If you enjoy nature and hiking this is the perfect activity! Marblis and Felipe are great friendly and knowledgeable guides - pointing out important/interesting things, sharing information about the area, and taking care to go up the mountain at our pace. Marblis even encouraged me to practice my spanish - a free lesson! Good snacks were provided too.

My hike with Marblis and Felipe to Mirador De Condores near Santiago was wonderful. Marblis knew so much about the history of the region. We saw two condors. A challenging but rewarding hike for those who want to see a beautiful region of Chile. I highly recommend the hike and my guides.

What an experience! I had the opportunity to go with my mother and we had a great time with the guider Felipe, he was really nice and we had a great conversation on the way to the beginning of the walk. When you are going up there might be some harsher parts but if you are ok physically it should not be a problem at all, we made some stops to rest, drink water and even eat a little snack(which we bought on the way up). Once you are finally up there(took us about 3 hours) it is simply a breath taking view and definitely makes it an unforgettable experience. On the way down everything went by really quick, took us about 1.5 hours and it was fine. I recommend this experience if you want to get to know the Andes in a not so "touristy" way, have an awesome view of Cajon del Colorado and enjoy yourself on a great hike to observe the Condors at this magic and beautiful place.

Marblis organized a wonderful hike for me. Hiking up the mountain to the condor viewpoint was a highlight during my time in Chile. Marblis was well prepared – from information about the flora and fauna to carefully chosen stops for rests and explanations to a yummy breakfast she had prepared and a stop at a small restaurant for lunch, she took care of everything and it was a great experience. A friend of hers who was also our driver shared his insights about the mining and electricity projects in the area that often are to the detriment of the environment, and Marblis was a patient interpreter for him and me. Both made me feel going on a hike with friends which I truly enjoyed. Marblis even sent me photos she and her friend had taken during the hike (they were much better than my own). And last, but not least - watching the Andean condors in the sky was breathtaking. I absolutely recommend this hike!
