What you'll do
We will make your choice of a bowl, or plate, then a cup from scratch. I will teach you hand pressing and slab techniques. You will understand the stages of clay along with patterns and design will be discussed. You will be assisted throughout the whole process and encouraged. You can use my collection of over 200 handmade pattern stamps and letters to personalize your work or to add a favorite phrase. We will be producing all 2 pieces. The work won't be ready to take home right away. I will fire it and glaze it the desired colors. All finished ceramic ware is oven safe, microwavable and dishwasher safe. The work will be ready for pick up in 21 days. If you can't pick your work up and need it shipped, I have a square account and we will ship it using FED EX. Shipping usually ranges from $20-$40 depending on the amount of work and shipping zone.
Other things to note
You are more talented and creative than you think! You will understand the phrase of "support your local clay" by the end of this workshop

Hello! I am Jenny Champlin, I have been a legit artist and arts and crafts teacher for the past 25 years. I have an MFA in art with an emphasis in ceramics. I have founded and ran art camps, clay camps, and have taught ceramics to ages 4-84. I have my very own crafting and ceramic studio RIGHT OFF the MAX line in Hillsboro. I just made a 6-foot wide nest that is my teaching table! My studio is a magical space, full of inspiration, crazy positive energy, and will delight all who enter. Come join me for an unforgettable experience!
Where you'll be
My studio is located on the second floor. We have an elevator and it is wheelchair accessible. Studio #7
Most of you will enter using the double front doors. Walk all the way down the hall. Up the stairs, turn right, and my studio is on the right closer to the skylight.

This is such a fun experience! Me and my girlfriend were looking for something crafty to do while were visiting, and this was perfect. Jenny gives you a lot of interesting information about clay and the whole process. Jenny is very nice and welcoming and funny too!

I got this experience for me and my fiancé as the ending to her wonderful 30th bday week. I definitely would NOT recommend to anyone. We were treated like high school children being tolerated by their teacher. The instructor was rude, disrespectful and condescending. The actual lesson wasn’t a lesson at all and we spent the entire time stamping buttons into clay that was laid over a bowl. If you want to learn about ceramics I would not advise using this class or instructor, as she will be sure to just rush through the entire experience as if she is in a hurry to leave.

This experience was amazing! Jenny was such a warm, cheerful instructor. We each made a bowl and a cup. Jenny did a great job explaining all the steps and encouraging us along the way. I'd recommend this to everyone, regardless of your prior experience with clay.
