Our tasty adventure starts in the heart of Chinatown with Dim Sum. Ready to take on the day, we check out the fortune cookie factory and take a peek inside! Next, we stroll down the street of the infamous 10-cent haircut and learn how sailors journeyed here in hopes of the American dream.
But wait, the adventure doesn’t stop there! Next, we’ll check out the oldest bakery in Chinatown, a church that survived the 1906 earthquake, the oldest temples in the USA, all while sipping some delicious bubble tea.
As we approach our final hour, we head to a local tea shop and learn about the role of tea in traditional Chinese medicine with a 30-minute tasting.
Feeling warm, we head to our last stop to learn about the Gold Rush, in the exact spot it all started! Here we taste a local pork roll from one of the oldest restaurants in town.

I have always had a passion for cooking, trying new foods, and discovering new sites and tastes on a good food tour. That love inspired me to create my own food experience company called Stretchy Pants!

Things to note:
*This tour can be hosted by Kara (me) or one of my other well-trained co-hosts.
*Feel free to contact me with any questions or special requests.
*COVID may change our route, but we will always eat the same amount!

But that's not all... Stretchy Pants has other walks on Airbnb, so keep an eye out! Breakfast & The Painted Ladies Food Walk & North Beach Food Walk: Beer & Pizza.

Amazing walking tour! There’s just the right amount of food: you won’t go hungry but you won’t be so bloated that you can’t walk. And the food tastes great. The tea tasting is very informative about staying healthy. As a local Bay Area resident, I loved the stories about the different alleys and buildings that I hadn’t heard before. Definitely would recommend to tourists and locals alike!

We had the best time with Kara on this wonderfully thought out tour of hers! We booked last-minute, but she was completely flexible and helpful. Take this advice and do not eat prior to this tour, you will be absolutely stuffed with food probably to take away with you even and everything was amazingly delicious. It was so fun to go into places that we probably, otherwise, would have found a little daunting and wouldn’t have known what to order. She had everything planned out so well, from food to various teas. Speaking of teas, the tea tasting was one of the highlights of our tour. We felt so uplifted and light after it, and we learned so much. Kara was so informative and we loved hearing her stories. We’d book with Kara again in a heartbeat, anytime we are back in the area. We only spent 48 hours in SF, but we are so glad we booked this and got a real feel for Chinatown that we otherwise wouldn’t have. Thanks, Kara. Keeping doing what you are doing! You rock!

This is a great tour of Chinatown in San Francisco. We covered a lot of the history of Chinatown and sampled some great food. I am not that adventurous of an eater, but Kara was really good about explaining what was in all of the foods and what to expect. I tried and liked everything! There was so many unique experiences as well. I used to live in the Bay Area about 10 years ago, and this was the first time back in a long time and we still went to many places I've never been and heard some great stories. Even with Covid, we were still able stop at many locations and got the full experience! Even if you are a local, this is a great tour to discover new things!

We loved the Chinatown tour! This was our 2nd tour with Kara, and as always, the historical context, fun facts, and social context she delivered during the tour were top notch. All of the food was great and we were really blown away by the tea tasting. Would recommend this tour for couples, friends, or family groups!
