What you'll do

Van Gogh's most productive period were his final months in the summer of 1890 in Auvers-sur-Oil, about an hour's train ride on the H train from Gare du Nord. In 1890 it was also an hour's journey.

I will meet you at Gare du Nord from where we will travel through the bucolic outskirts of Paris to Auvers. There we will replenish ourselves with a stiff espresso and a pastry before embarking on the short walk following in Vincent's footsteps, past the Church that he immemoriaiized in June 1890, to the fields where he painted some of his greatest works.

There you will paint in the same spot as Vincent. And experience the same light and colors that he did. Little has changed. Many people feel a powerful spirit here; I know that I do.

I will be providing all of your art materials - nontoxic oil paints, palette, brushes, easel, apron and 7x9" panel. All you need bring is a hat and suntan lotion.

Step-by-step I will guide you through the entire process of creating an en plein air (open air) oil painting.

We'll conclude our homage to Vincent with a picnic of wine, ham and cheese and baguettes while contemplating our paintings where Vincent, too, lunched.
Other things to note
This is a full day excursion. The listed time from 10:00 to 14:00 is for the painting workshop. We'll lunch after our painting and you will definitely want to spend time exploring Vincent's haunts.

It never ceases to amaze me how this deeply troubled and penniless man literally changed how we see the world. I am a professional painter, recognized internationally as a master, who wants to share my deep appreciation of Van Gogh with you by literally standing where he stood and painting the same halcyon fields that he did in his final summer in Auvers.

I am the author of numerous online painting courses, the former Artistic Director of the Vancouver Academy of Art, and I also teach workshops in Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong and Singapore on my yearly Asia Painting Tour. Paris is my home now.

This a spanking new Experience that is rarely offered. Check out my reviews for Paint Paris with a Master Artist at https://www.airbnb.com/experiences/179914

Where you'll be

In addition to painting we will visit Vincent's grave alongside his brother Theo, a short distance away. Before returning to Paris we will visit his small room. Vincent was the last tenant here. The room has never been rented out. It is best visited singly so that you can fully experience the powerful presence that remains.

And stay for dinner and eat what Vincent ate (not included). Personally I am not fond of baked marrow and mushy peas.
