I studied ecology and then worked with forest research for a number of years which took me to see many remote woodlands of the Highlands. I have a passion for my wood work because there is nothing better than working outdoors with a natural material like wood and using my hands to create. I learned these skills a a child from my grandfather and have also learned from many renowned international teachers in Green wood working plus not to mention from my own mistakes!

The woodcraft experience with Tom was such a fun activity, and we learned a lot. Definitely a special experience that made us all want to pursue woodcraft further! Tom is extremely personable and knowledgeable; he is a great teacher and very encouraging. We came away with a beautiful butter knife each (of which we are very proud!) and a better understanding of wood and carving skills. Thanks again Tom!

Couldn't recommend enough. Fascinating and therapeutic. This was a fantastic experience for my wife and I. Thomas was very welcoming, friendly and (importantly) patient. We were complete amateurs when we walked in, and he has taught us some great skills in a short time which have inspired what could be a new hobby.

A beautiful sunny snowy day in the Cairngorms; Tom stoked a fire and made us mountain tea before teaching us the basics of axe and knife skills to make our butter knives. A truly memorable experience and hopefully lasting skills!
