What you'll do

We’ll go to the cloud forest in the mountains of Heredia on a LEVEL 4*** hike that features two beautiful waterfalls and amazing landscapes. We’ll meet in the city center and drive 11 Km (7 miles) to a Protected Area where we’ll trek for 3 hours through a recovered cloud-forest surrounded by exuberant vegetation and some fauna. We’ll visit two waterfalls, and if you are up for it, we’ll take a dip in the pure, cold mountain water! On the trail it’s common to find recent tracks of tapirs and small felines and to see several bird species. Back in Heredia city we’ll enjoy local flavors in a typical lunch (complete meal included). PLEASE READ ATTENTIVELY: *** Level 4 hike means "INTERMEDIATE HIKE WITH GOOD INCLINES, SOME STAMINA IS REQUIRED, YOU NEED TO STAY HYDRATED. GOOD FOR SOME KIDS AND TEENS. NOT FOR BEGINNERS". *** This is a 4 kilometer trek with a 160 meters altitude gain. (2.5 miles walk with 525 feet of altitude gain). There are no paved sections or handrails along the hike and trails can be muddy in some parts. This experience is completed in 4 or 5 hours. *** I do not recommend signing up if you have knee problems, if are not moderately in shape or if you never take walks since these situations create extra stress and slow the trek for other attendees.

Where you'll be

Tapir Mountain is a cloud-forest plenty of water streams, tropical trees, birds, small mammals, butterflies, mushrooms, hummingbirds and ferns. There, we hike three hours in a recovered forest to breathe its cool mountain air. Once we reach the second waterfall you may enter the chill water pool, or not! Back in town, a delicious lunch is waiting for you to recover your strength. You will love this new trail and share them with your people.
