What you'll do

The Star Way (Vereda de la estrella) take its name from the old mines found in the valley of the Genil river. This path was built to serve as a means of communication between the mines. It is one of the most beautiful and crowded trails in Andalusia.
We will start from the confluence of the Genil river with the San Juan stream, which runs through the well-known ravine of San Juan. At this point you will find San Juan restaurant and the beginning of the way. It is a linear or circular route where we can put ourselves in the shoes of those men who around 1890 would build the path to transport the cars loaded with "Galena" and "Pirita" that were extracted from the mines of the Tester and the Star. During the first section of the route along the San Juan hill and its shady slopes we will enjoy the spectacular views of the valley surrounded by typical vegetation of these particular circumstances, such as mosses, climbing ivies and ferns, as well as "rascaviejas", marjoram, foxgloves, "cornicabras" and wild roses. The second section of the road radically changes to a more arid landscape, close to the high mountain with meadows.
Other things to note
It is a route through a mountain path of low - medium level.
There is no phone line at all the way or points where to collect drinking water.

started in the mountain world from a very young age, with 12 years already my first trips through the Pyrenees and at 14 I moved to Granada, where at the end of my high school I began my technical training in outdoor activities in the mountains. Since then I have practiced many activities related to the mountain world such as mountaineering, climbing, skiing, hiking or canyoning from Sierra Nevada, the great Atlas Mountains or Himalayas!

Alex was not only knowledgeable, but also personable during the hike. My friend and I were hilariously unprepared, but Alex was flexible, patient, and I never felt unsafe. He knew fun facts of the wildlife and the history of the trail and cares that you have the best experience possible. Overall was a great hike.
