What you'll do

Class begins with a survey of students experience and motivations for coming to class.

We will talk a little about the history and development of the practice. We will preview what we will be doing and quickly move into slow and gentle warm ups followed by step by step movements.

I use demonstration and review regularly to help you learn techniques in a way you will be able to remember, but also keep the class flowing in a way that you actually feel like you have exercised by the end of class.

Tai chi is similar to yoga in its calming and energizing effects. It helps to open up joints and strengthen our core. It teaches us to elongating our spines and develop our postural awareness.

Tai Chi is a martial art, however we will be learning to use it as a form of exercise and source of increased vitality.

Class will close with a review of what we have learned and ways we can use some of the techniques throughout our dail lives.

This is a fun introduction to martial arts, as well as an opportunity to perhaps discover your favorite way to exercise.
Other things to note
Dress in loose clothes that are easy to move in. Layers are nice so that you can remove clothes as you warm up if needed.

Where you'll be

We will meet at my home in Makawao. This is a quiet family oriented neighborhood. We can tour the gardens and Sauna for those who would like to detox after class. We have the weather on planet earth.
