What you'll do

Combine a guided forest tour with a licensed naturalist guide and a farm to table type experience where you learn about the growing process of the ingredients that you can later turn into a delicious dish.

The day begins with a tour of local forest trails with Manolo as your certified guide. Here you will learn about the magic of the ecology of cloud forest and the history of conservation efforts in the zone at the same time as Manolo's trained ear, eye and spotting scope will help you see any wildlife with which you are lucky enough to cross paths. Several trail systems are options, each with a different entrance fee (not included)

After your tour, we invite you to come to our organic veggie garden, fruit trees, and small sugar cane, banana, and coffee groves.

Depending on your individual interest, we can talk about our project with a focus on cultural and agricultural history, tropical ecology, health and wellness or just plain joy about the marvels of the seed to food plate process!

Together we can decide whether you would like to participate in garden tasks, plant a tree in our reforestation area, or just choose which produce to harvest and take with you
Other things to note
Monteverde is a place of dynamic weather patterns. We will make a plan together to adapt when the weather conditions inspire a change.

The entrance fee into the trail system not included.

We are a bicultural famiily with a deep connection to the local ecology.

Beth is a primary school teacher with over 20 years of experience who found her ¨heart home¨ here almost 25 years ago.

Manolo is a licensed naturalist guide with almost 10 years of experience who grew up in a farming family in the zone.

We have always had an organic garden alongside the forest, but are thrilled to now have space to do so on a scale to share with neighbours and our Airbnb cabin guests.

We are also Airbnb hosts--check out our Monteverde Forest Hideaway evaluations to get a sense of who we are! Other Airbnb Experiences that we offer include our garden tour combined with a night tour as well as a cloud forest tour with a special family focus.

What a wonderful experience! Beth and Manolo are such wonderful people and we learned so much about Costa Rica, it's rainforests and it's agriculture! Don't pass this up - enjoy the full experience!

To quickly summarize, I think if you decide to skip out on this experience, you would be missing so much of what makes Monteverde special. First, the guided tour of the cloud forest is going to be special and different for each group that goes. Manolo really works with the environment to showcase some of what makes a cloud forest different than a rainforest. He will spot out unique plants and animals that usually you might miss entirely. You will walk out of the forest refreshed and enriched! Then, you will enjoy the stories, passion and energy of Beth as she walks you through her property! She feeds off of curiosity so don't be shy. The more you put in, the more you'll get out. I tasted and saw different plants that I don't think I could have ever tasted elsewhere. All in all, you will really not regret this tour!
