What you'll do

The meeting place is Mt. Hope Community Garden, an urban area at 42nd and Market Street, only 5 miles from downtown San Diego. It is an outdoor space. We will meet in a shaded area of the garden, however, you are welcome to first tour the garden to enjoy the fruits of labor, literally. Tables and chairs are available in the shaded area. I will start with a presentation about drought tolerant plants, including Southern California natives, and how the need for more friendly and beautiful environments in urban communities encouraged me to spearhead community beatification projects, and compose succulents in a variety of containers. After the presentation, I will demonstrate how you can make anything into a drainable planter, and also how you can accent your interior and exterior space with intriguing succulents that draw interest as living works of Art. You will then start your project to create your own living art piece to take home. it is best to wear comfortable clothing and shoes. All materials and tools are provided to create your living work of Art. Non-alcoholic drinks are also provided. The space is part of the garden, so best to wear comfortable clothing and shoes.
