What you'll do
We'll introduce ourselves and get ready to start the workshop. We will chat about what we'll cook that day, which will depend on the donated produce received from Fareshare. http://fareshare.org.uk We'll cook a dish or two, usually soup, chutneys, jams and or cakes. While we're cooking I can explain how the RCK Edinburgh Fundraising Group support the ongoing work of Refugee Community Kitchen in Northern France and London, who provide 2000 meals a day to destitute refugees stuck at our borders. Learn some new cooking tricks and preserving techniques to cook more sustainably, using donated surplus food. We'll sit down and eat together to learn more about each other in a relaxed manner, enjoying the fruits of our labour. The chutneys and jams that we have made will be used to fundraise for RCK at future events. I'm a chef from Edinburgh, I love everything to do with food and the community it creates. I've been holding workshops in my home with different themes. This one is to support an organisation close to my heart, Refugee Community Kitchen. I've set up a fundraising group in Edinburgh. We use surplus food, donated through Fareshare, to make soups, cakes and chutneys, which are used to create funds for RCK. After volunteering several times in Calais and seeing the amazing work of RCK, feeding displaced people in Northern France, I wanted to continue to support them however possible from home.

We'll have some soup and/or cake, depending on what we make that day. Dietary restrictions are catered for.

Where you'll be
The experience takes place in my traditional tenement flat in the beautiful neighbourhood of Marchmont, Edinburgh. We'll be cooking in my kitchen and we'll take a little break in the shared back green.

Up to 6 guests ages 8 and up can attend.
You’ll need to take a picture of yourself that matches the photo on your ID. This is so Airbnb can confirm who’s actually going on the experience. You’ll only have to do this once.
Wear suitable clothes and shoes for cooking. I'll provide aprons. Please let me know if you have any dietary requirements.
