Where you'll be
At my family home in Newtown. We will sit around my table with members of my family in the dining/living room.
Angie and her family were incredibly hospitable from the moment we walked into her lovely home to the moment we left. It's hard to find a family with such charisma, kindness and charm in ever single member.
Every single member of the family welcomed us with open arms and made us feel like our very own family were cooking and chatting with us.
The dishes Angie cooked us were nothing sort of delicious as can only be expected by someone as revered as herself however the true value of the experience didn't lie in the excellent homestyle food cooked with love and care it was the experience of having a literal seat at the table and bonding with the family over what we shared and had in common. The communal setting and understanding the stories behind the food and the hospitality powerhouse of a family you sit with is truly something special.
Imagine Bourdain's 'No Reservations' or Munchies' 'Chef's night out' (which Dan himself has starred in) and you've got a taste of the amazing cultural, communal experience this is. I've been to multiple fine dining restaurants and this is still by far the best food experience I've ever had in my life and one that I'll treasure for the rest of my life. If you are a foodie and want to connect with the people and culture behind the food itself then this occasion is not only a case study of the human experience but a must have opportunity.

An utterly sublime foodie experience - not be be missed. I booked what I thought was a cooking experience for a birthday treat for my daughter and myself, I even packed an apron and house shoes. Well!!! to my utter delight all we had to do was mingle with some fabulous Sydney foodies and enjoy incredible food and the charming family with the charismatic Angie cooking for us. The evening started with delicious "spring rolls" , and was followed by an exquisite salad which I wish I could identify the magic dressing ingredients of, then the rice paper rolls which we composed ourselves, and then my favorite - Angie has it a name? a traditional Vietnamese soup, with flavors and textures which seemed to isolate themselves then come together again in an exquisite broth. Divine! The desert, for which I was sure I had no room, I devoured! Sago, delicately enhanced with pandan leaves and blueberries. The meal ended with pandan leaf tea. Angie and Family, a huge "Thank you" You and your family made us feel like special guests - a truly wonderful evening.
