What you'll do

We travel from Valencia to Requena to visit one of the most important wine companies in the región: "Vicente Gandia" and the wineyard "Hoya de Cadenas" located in Utiel, a beautiful town 60 km west from Valencia. Here we enjoy a wine probe, visit the cellars and attend an explanation of the wine varieties and ways of production by an oficial spokesman/woman of the company. Afterwards we go by the Tourist train to the Owners House. A house from the 19th century to see the origins of the family. Close to the House, the Art Museum waits for us. Here we discover an exhibition of barrels painted and decorated by famous and prominent people.
Once we finish the visit, it's walking and history time. The city of Requena (15kms from Utiel away) offers us its historical heritage. The old town or "Barrio de la Villa" is a delicious example of the city with Roman, Arabic, Jewish and Christian heritage. Places like the Homenage Tower, the Silk museum, the Square, or the Church are worth a visit.
Not only history and heritage, but also gastronomy is a highlight in Requena. We can have lunch in one of the restaurants located near the city centre and enjoy the wines and meat of the region.

Hello, my name is Enrique Alapont Asins and I work as a Tourist guide in Valencia. I have studied German Philology in Valencia and Nürnberg. Moreover I have B-2 level in English and Italian language.
I work at the tourism branche since 2015 and I must recognise showing the city is something I really enjoy. I think tourism is a good way to meet new friends from other countries.
In our activities, I do not try to teach a history class, but offer a unique, funny and enriching experience.
I hope you trust us and thank you in advance for reading.

This is a great opportunity to travel just over an hour inland and see a different side of Spain than the coast. Enrique is a knowledgeable guide and safe driver who will take you to a great place for lunch, show you the sights in Requena and take you to a beautiful handpicked winery off the beaten track. This was a different and enjoyable day from start to finish. Thanks Enrique!
