What you'll do

Upon arrival we will begin with some light finger foods and beverages to enjoy for our time crafting! As everyone is getting settled in and comfy I will give a brief explanation about the history and beliefs about dreamcatchers and what the different parts mean. Each guest will then be able to pick out their own ring to use. I will then demonstrate how to begin weaving the inner web. I will help those who need extra assistance and allow everyone to go at their own pace. Next, I will show examples of how to add the finishing embellishments such as string, ribbon, yarn, beads and feathers and each guest can create their own dreamcatcher using their own personal style preferences. It will be a very comfortable and calming environment and my goal for the evening is to help make everyone feel relaxed and confident and to make it feel like a casual crafting session with friends!

Meet your host, Raquel

Host on Airbnb since 2015

I am the owner of a small business called Feathered Co Designs. I make handmade dreamcatchers and sell them both locally and on Etsy. I have been crafting my whole life, but my favorite things to create are dreamcatchers. After studying world history in college and traveling to different parts of the world I seem to always get drawn back to my Native American roots. Specializing in making Dreamcatchers has taught me so much more about my Native American background than any text book ever could.

Where you'll be

We will conduct our workshop in the living area of my well lit and nicely decorated basement apartment, nestled up by the beautiful Wasatch mountains! The apartment has a full kitchen which makes it great for all of our yummy snacks that we will be enjoying! It also has plenty of space and light to use for crafting, a private restroom, and plenty of parking for guests to use.
