What you'll do

Starting from Plaza de la Victoria, where we will talk about the initial settlement of Bellavista Hill, we will then take the Espiritu Santo elevator, which will take us to the heart of the historic conservation area, where we will see how this neighborhood of more than 100 years old has maintained. We will talk about the Open Sky Museum, its role in the development of street art and we will see some of the murals along the way. We will go up one of the main streets, where we will talk about the Italian and Spanish immigration of the early 1900s. We will pass next the Carmelitas Descalzos Church, example of neo-Gothic architecture and we will continue to see the castles built by Sebastian Collado Mauri, and we will talk about how this Spanish constructor transformed an important part of Bellavista Hill with great constructions like the Mauri Theater and the Sebastiana, Pablo Neruda's house, where we will enjoy its gardens and its beautiful view. We will begin the descent seeing other magnificent examples of street art to finish with a cocktail in the workshop of Jamie Westfall, a local artist of the neighborhood, where we can keep talking about art, Bellavista Hill and Valparaíso.
Other things to note
The entry ticket to go inside of Pablo Neruda's house is NOT included, only the free area (gardens, library, toilets and viewpoint)

Elsa and I, Francisco, we both are neighbors of Bellavista Hill for several years and we are both passionate about our neighborhood, its history, its ways of life and the impact that Cerro Bellavista has had on the artistic development of Valparaíso. We are both an active part of the community organization of the neighborhood, participating in different projects related to the conservation of Cerro Bellavista's heritage, as well as organizing street art and music festivals. In addition, we both also work as tour guides, with experience of several years making tours of the city of Valparaiso.

Where you'll be

We will walk around Bellavista Hill, known within the cultural heritage of Valparaiso due mainly to two important cultural attractions, the house of Pablo Neruda "La Sebastiana" and the Open Sky Museum. But in addition, Cerro Bellavista has a much wider heritage and great cultural value, and among its people, streets and stairways you can discover much more. We will finish with a cocktail in the workshop of one of the local artists

If you enjoy unique experiences with a personal touch, then this is a trip to book. Firstly, it is extreme value for money. The host has deep insights and a visible passion about the area. It is not overwhelming like other typical tours. The host also makes great suggestions about other things to do and see. His views are balanced and we explored many beautiful places we would have never managed to find on our own. Book this experience! :)

Francisco was a great guide, very knowledgable and told us all about the fascinating history of Valparaiso and its impact on the present day. Our tour was different to the usual because Bellavista funicular was closed and I couldn't climb it on foot due to a problem with my back. But Francisco pulled together an amazing tour that allowed us to see all different parts of Valparaiso that we would never have seen without him! We really enjoyed our experience!

I was traveling for work and needed some interactions and guidance to the city. The tour with Francisco was exactly what I needed. We walked and talked about the history of Valparaiso, the political and economic issues in Chile, and about the culture. After walking around the upper part of town, Francisco took me to his friend's house to have lunch and it was lovely. I highly recommend this tour with Francisco.
