What you'll do

Upon arrival I’ll give you a tour of the Neolondon gallery and art studio as well as the artist materials. We will talk about some important artists in the history of abstract expressionism and I’ll show you some examples of some art work from my favorite painters like Jackson Pollock, Franz Kline, Hans Hoffman and others. We will also discuss color and how that influences work. Then I’ll present you different brushes and tools we can utilize in abstract painting. That will take about 30 minutes. After that we will start to practice the essentials of abstract art making including using charcoal and other materials to engage in mark making and sketching on large pieces of paper that will be up on a wall. I’ll lead you into making your first spontaneous sketches, using your intuition, various drawing materials and three of your favorite colors. We will work on spontaneous creation using paper for about 30 minutes. In the last hour, using a small canvas that will be provided for you, I’ll then assist you in making your own abstract art work based ( loosely) on one of the artworks by a famous abstract expressionist that we have looked at earlier in our session or if you are feeling more adventurous, an intuitive abstract painting created using the colors you adore! I will be there to coach you through this creation process and I will encourage you to have fun and let loose!
Other things to note
This experience is for anyone who is interested in knowing more about the inside-life of an artist as well as creating your own intuitive art with the coaching of an experienced abstract artist.

I’m co-founder of Neolondon Arts Inc., a company that utilizes art for positive change. I myself am a visual artist since age 9, when I first learned to paint using oils under a leading Québec painter. I have been creating and selling my own work for ten years and I began offering creativity and expression courses about 5 years ago after I completed my studio arts degree @ the University of Concordia. I am passionate about teaching any one who has an interest in painting, drawing and working with artistic materials as well as color, gesture and imagination in order to create their own art work.

Where you'll be

After we are done creating your own abstract work and visiting the Neolondon studio, we can go just down the street and visit two of Neolondon’s mural art projects located at two very close by restaurants/ bars (operating hours permitting). We can discuss the artwork and talk about expressive and free hand drawing. This experience will be conducted first at our home studio and then offer a quick tour of mural art in two public places.
