Where you'll be

Mostly inbetween the kitchen and the dining hall, immersed in the magical setting of the courtyard of a 12th century church in Faenza - a small medieval town in Romagna, the cradle of gastronomic civilization.

Our experience with Postrivoro was absolutely one of the best highlights of our visit to Italy. Simone, Gianluca, and the whole Postrivoro team organized a creative and absolutely first rate pop-up meal. Getting to be a part of it was an amazing experience. I always enjoy the opportunity to spend time in the kitchen with other chefs and their teams. My husband is not in the food business, and he had an amazing time as well. He even learned how to make handmade tortelloni. Not only was this day-long experience quite different from the typical activities one might enjoy while traveling, it is seldom that an outsider to the area has the opportunity to meet and watch the kind of talent that are involved. The guest chefs who participate come from some of the best kitchens around the globe. For those who are less interested in the cooking/plating aspect of the meal service, we had the option of participating more as observers (the kind who still get to sample the dishes and wine) but I very much recommend getting involved with the process. For those unfamiliar with the production of this kind of meal, it is a great way to understand what really goes on behind the scenes, and what goes into creating a multi-course marriage of food and art.

From booking to it's end, Simone was a wonderful host and the experience was so much more that I thought it would be. Gastro Pilgrim fits this experience perfectly, and I will say no more other than at all times I was welcomed into my environment and people's passions. Long may Gastro Pilgrims continue to grow!

Postrivoro, a magical experience. Meet the people shaping the future of food in Italy. It's hard to describe what it is but it's on the crossroads of Italian cuisine. Even mentioning the name Postrivoro opened doors in restaurants that I visited afterwards. If you're even the slightest bit interested in food, don't hesitate and book this experience. I'm hoping to cross paths again with this group of people in the future.

What an amazing and inspiring experience! The people were amazing and the food was out of this world. It's rare to find yourself completely out of your comfort zone, and yet feel entirely comfortable. I would highly recommend this if you are interested in food at all, or even just for a good time!

This is not a cooking course. It is something quite unlike anything we have done on holiday before, but was a fantastic addition to our trip. The best way to describe it is a gastronomic experience where you are a guest of the kitchen rather than a guest of the restaurant. Simone picks you up from the train station, you have a coffee and drive out to a magical little palazzo in Faenza. When you get there you aren't fully clear on what you should be doing, but you get given some wine (don't lose your glass!) and then someone tells you to pick some herbs in the local park. At some point someone gives you an apron. You find yourself in the kitchen eating delicious bread, and having the thought behind the menu explained to you by the chef. You get given a different glass of wine. You help put some chairs out. You eat some more delicious food. You insert yourself into the plating of the starters. You eat some more delicious food. The day progresses like this. To get the most out of the experience you need to ask questions and get involved. No one will ask you to do anything, but they are more than happy for you to help. Brilliant way to spend a day embracing the Tuscan way of living, and being introduced to new ingredients and ways of preparing them. Grazie mille!

I had such a wonderful time on this experience! Simone was so incredibly helpful and generous with his time and attention. The event was fascinating - a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience a very special moment in time where lovers of amazing food and wine gather to share their passion. I met so many wonderful people and was treated like part of the team. The more involved you get the better the experience. Highly recommended!
