What you'll do

To learn everything you need to know to start fermenting we will begin by going through the equipment we will use, then have a look at some recipes and what kind of spices you can use before getting practical. Then we will go through all the steps of fermenting from chopping or grating the vegetables, seasoning to the finished jar. Each participant will get the jar that has been preparing during the workshop to take home and ferment.

I'm a farmer and gardener with more than 30 years experience in organic farming and and self-sustainability. Together with my husband Rupert I run a little organic farm in the beautiful mountains of Telemark.

Ever since we came to this place with our prairie-wagon and animals we have been growing our own vegetables and have been making our own goat-cheese, honey, yoghurt, herbs, sour-dough bread and fermented vegetables.

I love sharing knowledge about the ways we can make better food both for us and the environment. It’s fun, so hope to see you!

Where you'll be

The course takes place on Skifterud, a farm that has been run in a natural way and based on organic principles since we came here in 1984. The course itself will take place in our kitchen in an old wood-house.
