What you'll do

This is a tour with a difference. Please note that Price is per tour so should you wish to bring extra guests, you can, for free just let me know!!

I believe that you only fully understand a place when you understand the local people, that is why I have created this tour.

This is a very intimate and personal tour where you will actually get to know your local guide personally. Not only will this give you a unique chance to understand the Irish people better but it also allows us as a group to visit much more unique, smaller places such as quaint bars, museums and random historical points of interest.

We start in the city centre, walk to a park connected with Irish independence and mythology, discover a hidden alley way and learn of an Irish Soldier and his love letter, from there we zig zag across the city passing the many monuments on the way, we will see the haunting famine memorial, a secret plaque, famous Universities, hidden city walls and finish with a pint in a very typical old Dublin pub where we discuss everything and anything to do with Dublin or Ireland.

Something in particular you would like to see? Just let me know and I would be happy to help!

**NOTE: This price is per tour - if you want to bring 1/2 friends along for FREE just let me know!**

My name is Tony and I am the founder of 'Real Dublin Tours'. This is my own locally based walking tour company in Dublin which focuses on only small group and private tours to give guests a sense of the city without the large crowds.

This enables us to visit places that are not possible on larger tours. We will explore the city streets, focusing on Irish culture, learn about the History but most importantly get to know a local.

I have a degree in Irish History and a degree in Tourism. I am also a Failte Ireland qualified tour guide. This is the highest available certification for a Tour Guide in Ireland.

I believe in quality over quantity so come join me on a tour and find out what makes Dublin so amazing!

Where you'll be

We meet in the centre of Dublin before getting an introduction into the unique type of tour this is. We will get an introduction into the amazing history of Dublin before making our way across the city to stop at various cultural hotspots, often hidden in plane sight even from locals. After this we visit a 200 year old local pub where guests will have the option to enjoy a drink and relax!

This was a wonderful way to spend an afternoon in Dublin! I love walking tours, but often find myself lagging at the back of the group by the end of even the shortest tours. Tony was very agile in his presentation, focusing more and more on what I personally found interesting as opposed to a generic history tour. It felt more like a conversation than a moving classroom, with a clear love of Irish history coming across in every story told.

An absolute highlight of our trip to Dublin was the three-hour guided tour with Tony. He explained the history of Ireland, the culture and current events to us in an excellent and vivid way. Tony took us to amazing sights and wonderful insider tips and in the end we drank a beer in a cozy bar together. Tony was very friendly and humorous and we recommend everyone to book the tour with him!

On a chance, I decided to book Tony. He didn't have any reviews on AirBNB at the time but something about his kind face and description convinced me to take a chance. I am SO glad I did! I traveled to Ireland with my husband, his sister, her beau and his parents who are in their 70's. Tony made it clear from the moment I booked he wanted this experience to be tailored to our interests and needs. He more than delivered on that desire. We met at the stainless steel spire on O'Connell street and immediately felt a great connection with Tony. He's warm, friendly, funny, clever and caring and it's easy to tell he truly loves Dublin and his Irish heritage. From the first moment we met, we were taken on a journey that included history and how it's shaped present day Dublin, some local myths and legends, great amounts of humor including some pretty funny self-deprecating Irish humor and a walking tour though it lasted 3 hours, seemed to pass in mere minutes. Tony is a great story teller and while the Irish are known for their gift of exaggeration, we later found the information Tony conveyed was retold to us by other people we met though not with as much zest and enthusiasm but the same basic information none the less. My sister in law isn't a big fan of history but Tony made everything interesting with his great storytelling skills and sharing just enough to give you knowledge but not seem like a lecture on Irish history or politics. My in laws are hard of hearing - I let Tony know this from the beginning. He took great care to make sure he stayed in pace with them so they could hear what he was saying. They both appreciated his kindness and obvious respect for their age and condition. You won't be disappointed if you book with Tony. I have friends who are traveling to Ireland later this year and Tony's contact info will be the first thing I share with them as they plan their trip. Now we are home and reflecting on our holiday and our time with Tony - it turned out to be one of the true highlights of the trip for all 6 of us. Well done, Tony. We will certainly contact you when next we're on the Emerald Isle!
