What you'll do
I will take you to shop fresh ingredients at Nguyen Van Troi market, then back to my tiny vintage kitchen studio and cook together. The menu is changed every day depends on what we find at the market. I will share with you all the yummy and healthy recipes which I've learned from my Mum, so this is a home cooking experience.
Here's the menu sample:
- Mon, Weds, Fri: countryside style Viet lunch (steamed or fried rice, fish/meat, salad, soup)
- Tues, Thurs: North- Central- South taste (noodles, rice cakes, rolls...)
- Sat, Sun: National dish - Pho and 3 types of spring rolls.
The menu can design as vegan and Halal-friendly too.
Other things to note
You arrange your own transportation. Bring your cameras and curiosity.

Xin chào! I'm Oanh. I am a food and lifestyle journalist, home chef, books author, founder and creator of Tap De kitchen boutique. I am passionate about good food and how to eat healthy. I've traveled to 50 countries and counting, sometimes just because of foods. My cooking is featured on Vietnam Television - VTV3.
Where you'll be
We will meet at Ding Tea at 10am. The tea house is opposite Nguyễn Văn Trỗi market - a local wet and raw market where you can't find any tourist there. We shop ingredients there then back to my cozy kitchen studio Tap De kitchen boutique and cook together.
I absolutely loved my cooking class with Oanh! She make me feel as if I was cooking right at home - her place was cozy and the food we made was delicious (I'm a huge fan of the coconut spring rolls we made). The rest of our group ended up not being able to make it so I was able to have a solo class. If you're looking to explore a local market and make traditional Vietnamese food with an exceptional host, this experience is for you. Additionally, Oanh donates profits from the cooking course to a local community group (I love that she does this). She also provides you with the recipes to take home and try yourself - another bonus of the experience.

Awesome good experience with this amazing Host. She met us in time at the meeting point, guided us through the market labyrinth, catched a taxi for us to drive to her home and was super supportive in guiding the group during the preparation by explaining everything in detail. I fully recommend this to people who are not afraid of home experience, handson preparation and doing something in a group together.
Thanks again Oanh for this wonderful class

I booked the call on the weekend so I could learn how to make pho and spring rolls. We ended up making spring rolls, papaya salad and lemongrass beef. She did send us all of we recipes via email so at least I can teach myself to make pho. I found the class to be pretty basic. We were all making different things at different times so it was hard to learn. The class lasted about an hour and a half. Overall it was ok.
