What you'll do

We will go to Valladolid, "the mayan world's capital" the experience begins learning about all we see on the way. We will show you the most local perspective of the mexican culture through a visit of the interesting sites around the pueblo. The monastery is a beautiful sample of colonial architecture, the market, absolut must in a mexican town, we will be walking on the streets and tasting authentic foods.
There are incredible cenotes around the area but we will visit the one locals do on the weekends and take a swim in the sacred waters of the underground rivers. We will see a few villages and meet some local people if the oportinity comes, this experience is the closest contact you will get to mexican culture! Away from the posed face of the tourist towns. If you speak some spanish, get ready to use it, if not, never too late to start, we love talking with local people.

Where you'll be

We'll visit a real MERCADO, the heart & soul of the Mexican culture, the source of our colors and flavors, we will explain you about all we see.
We will tell you about the history of the colonial area we will be at, but also we will get to visit some still very authentic corners of the town and not only walk around the main gardens like tourist.
Mexico offers so many chances to get amazed by the singularity of its people, foods and folklore.

We had such a fantastic time on this experience with our guide Javier. I cannot recommend this experience enough. The authenticity will leave you feeling like you have seen real parts of Mexico, away from the tourists hubs. Valladolid is a beautiful town worth the drive filled with lots of warm people eager to show you their little city. We did this as a group, in-laws, my daughter and husband. Javier was phenomenal, so patient, welcoming and knowledgeable! Everyone came back truly happy to have experienced this! Take the road less traveled, and book this experience!!!

My husband and I did this on our honeymoon and ended up being the only two on the trip, so Javier and Kaeru gave us freedom to explore a bit more and choose the schedule. They were so friendly and accommodating and we had some great chat along the way. Valladolid is a wonderful city and the cenote was beautiful and invigorating. We highly recommend the trip!

AMAZING tour! First thing we noticed was the fact that Javier our tour guide had a deep understanding of the Mexican culture and history, he shared his own personal stories and experiences, for example he took us to his favourite pulled pork taco street vendor, and it was legit one of the BEST tacos I had on my trip! It was just very clear that he is passionate about his job. They also added on an extra stop to the town in which our driver Carlos grew up in, which made the trip even more special and made us feel immersed in the community and culture. Overall we had an amazing time I would highly recommend this tour and I look forward to coming back to Mexico one day.

Javier and Carlos were great guides. They were both warm and friendly. We had a lot of fun exploring and eating local food. It felt like we were hanging with friends. We laughed a lot and got to explore on our own. I would totally recommend going on a tour with them.

This experience is a must if you are in the area. Alejandra introduced us to the charming town of Valladolid and taught us things that we never would have been able to discover without her wisdom. She was also so flexible and accommodating: we were able to add a visit to Chichén Itzá to our tour. Most of the places were very local and non-touristy, and the monastery we visited was empty, meaning we got to explore with no crowds! You can't truly grasp the beauty and charm of the Yucatán peninsula without seeing it like this. It was such a phenomenal day, and our trip to Tulum would have been quite frankly lesser without it. If you want to understand Mayan and Mexican culture on a deeper level and do something unusual while in the peninsula, you cannot miss this tour.

I can’t stop raving to friends and family about booking a Mexican experience with Alejandra! This was my 2nd time booking and I will probably reach out every time I come back to Mexico. This time around I just told her what we wanted to do and she helped us create a day that flowed well and checked off everything. She’s very knowledgeable about Mexican culture and teaches you without it coming off like a lecture. We were the only ppl at the cenote she took us too... such an amazing experience!
