What you'll do

Teotihuacan is one of the most important archaeological areas, It is visited by travelers from all over the world. Due to its dimensions, it is difficult to tour it in detail in a single day. My proposal is to start the tour in the Ciudadela and appreciate the temple of the feathered serpent. We are moving by car to gate two, visiting the Pyramid of the sun and climbing to the top. Later we are walking the avenue of the dead, knowing the mural of the puma, the square of the moon and its pyramid, as well as the temple of Quetzalpapalotl. And finally we are finishing the tour in one of the following three points: the Museum of Mural Painting, the Palace of Tetitla or the Palace of Tepantitla. And if you thought that food is not included, we are stopping at the Teos Dining Room to taste Doña Juanita's homemade food.
Other things to note
I can pick you up in your locations. From november to february we start earlier to avoid the crowded time in the archaeological site. We can began the activity around 7:30.

I am archaeologist, trained in the National School of Anthropology and History and have a master’s degree in Mesoamerican Studies from National Autonomous University of Mexico. I have participated since 2012 in Huehuetlatolli La Antigua Palabra, a cultural diffusion association formed by specialists in Anthropology and History. I worked for two and a half years on different projects in the Teotihuacan Archaeological Zone. Since 2012 I have carried out experiences in this impressive space. In 2018 I got my certificate as a tourist guide and I know in detail this monumental archaeological site.

Where you'll be

During the experience we are talking about the most important archaeological projects that have been carried out in Teotihuacan, starting in the Ciudadela, where we can see the temple of the feathered serpent. We are also mentioning the main interpretations of the two most important pyramids of the place, dedicated to the Sun and the Moon. And we are talking about the way of life of Teotihuacan people through mural painting and palaces.

We had the most wonderful time with Jonathan on this tour. He is extrémalo knowledgeable about Teotihuacan, it’s history and the ongoing excavation that’s happening there. We’re so glad we went on this tour and didn’t go ourselves as the level of knowledge and insight Jonathan gave we definitely could not have found elsewhere. In the restaurant they catered for my veganism which I was really thankful for. Overall this was a wonderful experience and we would highly recommend booking this in if you come to Mexico!

Jonathan picked me up directly from my location, which was very convenient, and knows a lot about the archeological aspect and history of Teotihuacan. Lunch was really good and the whole experience was stress free and enjoyable.

I really enjoyed this trip. Jonathan made everything very easy and enjoyable and knew/explained much about this culture. I also enjoyed the authentic restaurant he chose. This day was fantastic.

We highly recommend Jonathan as a guide to Teotihuacan! From the moment he picked us up until he returned us to our Airbnb, he made it his goal to assure we got everything from the experience that we wanted. As an educator, and an archeologist who has worked on several sites; including Teotihuacan; his insights and depth of knowledge added so much to experiencing this amazing place. He kept us interested and entertained, was never too academic, and was patient with the different levels of interest and physical fitness of our party. Since we were a party from the US, his English speaking skills are a big plus! Our tour included plenty of photo opportunities, a delicious lunch at a restaurant in a nearby town, cold bottles of water. Weekdays are less crowded, and he gets an early start: we were among the first 5 or 6 people at the Temple of the Feathered Serpent and we're able to get great photos of the empty plaza. Many features of the Teotihuacan site are currently closed because of Covid restrictions, but we still felt that we got a full and worthwhile experience (to really take it all in, you'd need more than one day, anyhow!) If you're thinking about booking this tour and shopping around, I really don't think you could find a better one than having Jonathan as your guide. Pick your date and press the "reserve" button; you'll be glad you did.
