What you'll do

You'll be discovering why Saint Jean de Losne was so important for bargees and what their life was like. You'll learn about what kind of things they would transport, how they would fish, how barge were pulled by donkeys, horses or humans before engines. You'll learn how locks work and how weirs used to be built. You'll see all kinds of fascinating objects used by burgees. AND you can visit France's last wooden barge. We'll taste some delicious local dishes and drinks at the end.
Other things to note
One of the best museums in France explaining what life was like for people living and working on a barge.

I have a travel agency and am passionate about barging, our beautiful river. I've been leading tours around this town and its bargee museum for years. It's an amazing place.
