Wow! Our experience was too good to be true. 100/100, five stars! My girlfriend and I have lived in New Orleans for five years. We were celebrating her 28th birthday the day we took this class. We chose it because we wanted to do something different. And boy were we rewarded! She said it was "the coolest thing she has ever done in the city." I wish it were a more descriptive quote, but it was honest. This experience is the coolest thing you will do if you're visiting New Orleans. I would even more highly recommend it to other "locals" like us who wanted to learn about cocktail making! If you are confused about exactly what this experience entails, as I was, I will try and simplify. Basically, you go to Chris's bar and you are set up with all of the ingredients to make three cocktails. Chris starts with a short history lesson about the American cocktail (which I personally found fascinating, I'm currently reading his book to learn more) then, Chris teaches you the fundamentals of cocktail making. Chris's short bio undersells his qualifications. I won't spend too much time on this because you can see some of the highlights of his resume in the Airbnb description. As you will quickly learn, YOU ARE NOT WORTHY! Even those accolades don't properly articulate how incredible this guy really is. Among other things, he is a youtube celebrity and I would recommend viewing some of his videos before taking his class to get a feel for his teaching style. But don't let Chris's expertise intimidate you if you are eager to learn the fundamentals! If you want to learn, he wants to teach you. My girlfriend and I were cocktail novices with a thirst :) for understanding the basics. We were total beginners! If you are a little more advanced let him know and he will tailor the class accordingly. After the history lesson, Chris teaches you the esoteric world of spirits, liqueurs, bitters, types of sugars, and most importantly, the basic architecture of every drink we call a cocktail; namely the sling, sour, and true cocktail. As you're learning these drinks you simultaneously begin making the classics. You choose a base spirit for each and then he begins the instruction with prepared ingredients at your station. I made a rum milk punch (sling), a whiskey sour, and an "old fashioned" (cocktail). You will also learn how to use all the tools that you've seen sitting at the bar your entire life that you never knew what they were for e.g. a boston shaker (the aluminum cup thing), a jigger (looks like two shot glasses glued together), a muddler (the stick), and a stirrer (the long spoon). At the end, I think depending on your interest, you make a number of additional cocktails. Chris goes freestyle and you have to keep up. Our class went about an hour and half over the time that was allotted for the class, which was great for us! I guess plan accordingly if you have dinner plans or something. My gf and I both took about six handwritten pages of notes (we're both lawyers), which we now have in a little recipe scrapbook. Make sure you take notes because it gets complex. Again, this class was incredible. Chris is an outstanding teacher and an even better person. Make sure you get to really chat with him during the class. He purports that cocktails are the great social lubricant whose most potent attribute is an ability to bring friends and family closer together! He's right! There is a lot of cocktail centric philosophy mixed into this experience! Pay attention. Again, Chris's class is totally unique. To be honest, I don't think it will be available for that much longer because it is too good to be true. We were lucky to be the first airbnb class. And again, I cannot give Chris enough praise. Wonderful wonderful day! Make sure to tip.

This class was amazing! Cris took us through the history of alcohol and from there we learned the basics of building blocks that make up almost all mixed drinks. I learned so much I had to take notes, he took the time to answer all our questions. 10/10 would do again and highly recommend
