Across the Baikal Lake by walking or skating!

What you'll do

We will cross the Baikal Lake on foot (or on skates) in just one day! You will see and visit (if desired) the house-museum of Nicholas Roerich - a great artist, traveler, archeologist, scientist, poet and writer. We will reach the tunnels, where during the civil war there were fierce battles. The battles took place here more than once: when the "White Army" caught up with the "Reds" at first, then when Red Army troops went to the remnants of the retreating Kappel army. You will see the places shown in the movie “Admiral”, when A.V. Kolchak travels from Omsk to Irkutsk according to the plot.
Other things to note
If you do not have your own skates - you have to send me an application with an indication of the size. If you need fitting - contact with me.

I am an advanced traveler, I have a lot of experience in conquering the Siberian expanses. I have a speed skating category! All my life I lived in the northern regions of Russia and I know well the Baikal lake, its history, geography, flora and fauna!

Where you'll be

The main route of our journey will begin at one of the most amazing stations on the Circum-Baikal Railway - the Old Angasolka settlement, located 8 kilometers from the southernmost tip of the Baikal Lake - the Kultuk village. There you can look at the beauty of the Circum-Baikal Railway and take a bunch of memorable pictures. Then we will cross Baikal in a southern direction and we will arrive in the Slyudyanka city in the evening. The southernmost city on the shores of the Baikal Lake

Aleksei was the nicest! He picked us up at 7 am and did his best to take us to the best locations. Was very keen to take photos of us when we asked him to. We felt very safe and comfortable. Highly recommend!

This was a wonderful experience. We were 2 participants and Aleks picked us up in his car from our accommodation. Ahead of the experience, Aleks asked us questions to understand our level and suggested different routes of various intensity. On the day, the weather was worth than expected, -14 degrees Celsius instead of -5 and the wind was strong. We still did a couple hours ice skating on the lake however, we decided to stop as it was getting very cold. Aleks was really accommodating and we then went for a coffee to warm us, we visited a local market and also another site that exhibits ancients easy of living of the Siberian people. All in all, we had a fantastic day out and really enjoyed the experience. Aleks flexibility definitely helped. We would do it again! Thank you

This was an awesome experience that I can wholeheartedly recommend to anyone else coming to Irkutsk in winter! Алексей was great and we ended up with a fun little group for the day. Excellent memories of a lifetime were made and I managed to finally ice skate on Lake Baikal!
