Yoga: Nature is Healer with a guide

San Francisco, United States

Experience hosted by Susan

90 mins
Up to 10 people
Hosted in English

What you'll do

Explore nature's beauty in one of SF's best kept secret neighborhoods off the beaten path and out of most guidebooks while optimizing our own health and intentional capacity to self heal in community with stretching, breathing, yoga, learning about the local plants and taking in the sweeping views of SF often overlooked by visitors. Our time together will be 1.5 hours and we’ll cover about 1 mile of various (and at times steep) terrain at a leisurely pace.

As we make our way the top of the hill, stopping to enjoy yoga poses, breath work and moments of stillness to drink in the panoramic vista of San Francisco and her landmarks. Perfect combination of creating inner space in the outdoor space San Francisco invites us to protect and love. Be part of the spirit of sharing unity in our community!

Please note, each experience can be customized depending on group interest and what kind of plants are seasonally available to explore directly on the walk toward the top of the hill. Guests with limited mobility please email me with questions, details or to create a custom booking, as this hike can be adapted to paved and mostly level surfaces and experienced with beginner or family friendly yoga options available.

See susanyoga.com for more details and experiences.
Other things to note
Be comfortable, dress in layers. We will make our way up some steep streets; it’s a hill! No yoga experience necessary (nor do you need a mat). Bring water as appropriate, camera and a smile to share!

Inspired by nature, I have lead outdoor health and wellness workshops, yoga experiences, and edible wild foraging as a nature educator since landing back in the Bay Area in 2009.
I even received a Bay Area Green Business Award in 2015 for my own entrepreneurial health and wellness company Build Your Peace!
Combined with my advanced yoga (E-RYT 500) certification and YACEP continuing education provider for Yoga Alliance you get to relax and unwind without needing to look at a map, read a book on the ecosystem or figure out how to get your yoga breathing and stretches in while you’re with me in this best kept secret neighborhood and epic view point of San Francisco.
With 360 degree panoramic view from the top to call in the 4 directions of health and healing, I look forward to guiding you to experience how Nature is Healer

Where you'll be

Meet outside Martha's Coffee, across from my workshop studio space, on Cortland Ave in Bernal Heights.
From there we will walk through the backside of the hill and make our way up to panoramic views of the city, explore trails depending on group interest, ability and weather conditions.
It's one of the last spots for the fog to roll in, so bring a camera. Enjoy gentle yoga poses, breath work and moments of stillness before coming back down.

It was a wonderful experience meeting Susan and having a tour through the community of Bernal Heights. She showed me some beautiful plants and places and gave me lots of interesting informations about it. The yoga session on top of the Bernal Heights Park opened up my mind and gave me a relief of the stress the city can put onto you. We also had the best sunny weather and a lovely view from the top of the hill. I didn't expecting getting so much about the local Flora and the neighborhood and simultaneously feeling so much lighter afterwards. I'm really grateful and can only recommend this activity.

The tour with Susan was a very special and highly enjoyable one - apart from lots of small stories around the beautiful neighbourhood of Bernal Heights and the great views, Susan shared many insights of the surrounding nature and her enthusiasm certainly sprang over. We ended the tour with a very energizing moment which was really heartfelt. I am very glad I made this experience, and highly recommend it!

I have hiked Bernal Hill (and many other hills throughout SF) many times, but I am always fascinated by all the plants I see and have wanted to know what they are, so Susan's hike was perfect for that. She is SO knowledgeable and extremely passionate about the native plants and San Francisco in general. I learned a lot! I also loved the mini outdoor meditation and yoga. I practice yoga fairly regularly but I haven't often done it outdoors but found the experience really wonderful and grounding/calming. It has inspired me to try to practice yoga outside more often. If I have any complaint at all, it was that I wish it were a longer experience! I felt like I only experienced a small percentage of what Susan has to offer and would love to be able to go more in-depth regarding plants and their healing properties with her. And also maybe get a pamphlet or something to help me remember all the information later. My brain can't process all that information in such a short time!
