What you'll do

Our hike will begin in the beautiful town of Mismaloya. First, we will hike 3-4 hours through the jungle to the hill top of one of the tallest mountains in the area. There, we will rest, have snacks, and enjoy the view of the bay surrounded by all the mountains. Then, we will begin our hike down to the biggest waterfalls in the entire bay! After swimming and enjoying some time next to the waterfalls, we will have a delicious lunch. Finally, we will hike back to the town of Mismaloya. I only hope a hike like this can bring awareness to take care of nature and encourage people to participate in more adventures like this.
Other things to note
This is an advance hike that will be very challenging but equally rewarding. I've hiked many times with people of all ages. The most important thing is to have a positive attitude and determination.

My purpose is not to fill your head with information, but rather to fill your heart with experiences.
After spending months backpacking coast to coast in the US, I decided to come back to Mexico. I soon came across Puerto Vallarta, which made me decide to settle down and call it home. It was so easy to fall in love with a place like this. I've spent years exploring its surrounding mountains, waterfalls, rivers, beaches, towns, and much more. It is now my goal to be able to share these experiences that Vallarta has given me with others.

Where you'll be

This is a hike to enjoy what I consider the most beautiful place in the bay, the heart of Puerto Vallarta. The swimming hole that you will be able to dive and snorkel is our first stop. Then, we will continue on to the waterfalls. Each waterfall brings its own unique experience that is unforgettable. The exposure to these magnificent natural wonders with leave you breathless.

Eduardo and Laura were wonderful hosts! We loved connecting with them and learning about the flora and fauna of the area. The hike was high intensity but they certainly inspired us to up our hiking game. Thank you!

This tour took us to the very heart of Puerto Vallarta! It was just what I was looking for... ADVENTURE! And its pet friendly!!! Just be sure to check the weather cause in can get very hot (we did it in a semi cloudy day in march) and if your dog is not a sport fanatic or is not used to hiking or running long distances, this hike is not for your dog! My dog loves hiking but it was extra tough on her because of the heat and we had to do several stops for refreshing! Luckily my guide Eduardo and his girlfriend Laura were amazing and patient, they knew the place very well, they had great tips, great resting places, they pointed out all the important plants, trees and animals! Its a beautiful mountain and the views and waterfalls are just so wonderful and peaceful! We were the only people here! And they made a very good veggie meal, we had some mango, watermelon and a very tasty veggie sandwich! If your vacation need some adventure this is definitely a most do!

Going on this hike is one of the most rewarding things you can do when staying in Puerto Vallarta. Eduardo will take you to a small town south of it where you will begin the ascent into the mountains that you can spot from everywhere around the city, or even flying in. The hike is challenging, but I did it slightly hung over and survived, so it's definitely doable. The first bit is through palm trees and jungle, while further up, the vegetation changes and it becomes more of a sierra with grasses. You'll see tons of plants and beautiful flowers you've never seen before. The most magical thing is that you don't encounter any other person. You're hiking in complete solitude, and get to take in all the sights and views completely undisturbed. The biggest reward is jumping in the cold water of a waterfall at the end of it (don't forget about the hike back though ;) Eduardo is great in conveying his passion for this place, for taking a step back and taking it all in, and connecting to the nature around you. The only tiny improvement potential: a second sandwich for the hike back would be great :)

I’ve been to Puerto Vallarta many times and usually do an excursion on each visit. This was by far my favorite of all the excursions I’ve taken. For me, the hike was a little difficult but totally worth it. It was the kind of hiking that I really enjoy. The views were spectacular and the swimming under the waterfall was refreshing. Eduardo was a good guide and it’s obvious he’s in touch with nature and really enjoys what he does. I highly recommend this hike!

We had a great day. It was exhausting and at one stage I didn’t think I could complete the whole hike but I was in good hands with Eduardo. So glad I did it!
