I'm an experienced guide, foodie and a lover of all things natural.
I always enjoy travelling as much as I enjoy tasting the local food. But as a tourist I have not always had a chance to taste the real flavors of my holiday destination. Bearing that in mind, I would like to share my love for local food and knowledge of the best food places with others!
Get the best local food and eat like real Gozitans!

I had never heard of ftira until I started looking on the Airbnb experience tab for Gozo. Keen to find out more about the food and wine in the region,I booked a day time trip with Kasia, who met me in Nadir with her boyfriend Paul. The couple brought me around sites in the area, including the Botanical Gardens and spoke about the lure of the island that dragged them both out of the rat race in London. We spent two hours leisurely walking around, chatting, before Kasia presented me with the famous local dishes. I choose the mixed tuna as unsure what yo expect, and it wasn't a disappointment. The pizza like dish was washed down with a glass or two of local wine that Kasia presented from her backpack. It was a really enjoyable two hours and I learned lots about their lives growing up in Poland and Gozo. And the food and wine were delicious. Ftira is certainly a dish to try if here, and the couple were so kind to offer to bring me to the beach after my trip. You'll have a lovely time in very easy company.

Kasia led us through some of the most scenic areas of Gozo, something that I would have easily missed had I explored Gozo on my own. Given the amount of time we had it was well spent with a lovely mixture of conversation, sightseeing and tasting the local food of Gozo. The Gozo ftira we had was hands down the best thing's i've ever eaten from a pizza box. Additionally she introduced us to some local red wine, which was a perfect match with the fitira. We sat on a bench and ate while observing a beautiful view of the sea and talking about our traveling experiences among other things. I recommend this to anyone wanting to visit Gozo for a lovely, calm afternoon with amazing food, views and conversation!
