What you'll do

We will discuss the menu ingredients and visit a local vineyard to taste local libations to pair with our meal. We will visit a local farm or two to gather any ingredients that we cannot harvest on site. These farms are not open to the public. We will prepare a meal together from locally sourced ingredients in my outdoor kitchen. We will share our meal together Al fresco from prep to clean up. Each participant is expected to purchase a bottle of wine from the tasting to accompany our meal. The goal is that we all share and are able to pair a different wine with each course.
Other things to note
Guests must be 21 years of age to participate. Guests will purchase the wine/beer that is chosen at the tasting to accompany their meal. The hostess will share basic wine and beer tips.

Locally sourced food and libations are my passion. They are superior when fresh and you experience where the beautiful food is grown and harvested. As a mother, nurse for 28 years and prior massage therapist, I care immensely for what we put in our bodies and our connection to it. I have an environmental studies degree and a Masters in Education. I love to share what I am passionate about. I am a super host with a 5 star rating and I have served breakfast and special meals from locally sourced products or foods that I have grown myself. I am a prior ambassador of NM wine for a local vineyard. I infuse my southern roots into the amazing diversity of New Mexico cuisine. In honor of local food, this experience is seasonal during the growing season.

We greatly enjoyed our afternoon with LisaAnn. She has taken numerous steps to ensure that every ingredient is truly local, and we were lucky enough to spend the afternoon with not just her, but also her friend Antonio, a local farmer who provided the rabbit that we had for dinner. This experience is truly a unique way to see local food culture in the area and I would highly recommend!

I was not sure of what to expect on this little farm to table excursion, but it was very charming and conveyed LisaAnn's passion for her little community of wine makers, farmers, and back-to-the-land lifestyle. Although the description says Taos, it's actually in the area around Dixon. We began by meeting at Black Mesa Winery and reviewing the menu that LisaAnn had developed based on the ingredients available on that day. We had a wine tasting, that was part of the Farm to Table experience, selected wines to accompany the menu, and took a short tour of the winery and vineyards. Each person was asked to purchase a bottle of wine to share at dinner. We then followed LisaAnn, by car, to the first farm - One Straw Farm. It's a working farm (wear sturdy shoes!) and we picked basil and tomatoes. We then drove to LisaAnn's Enchantment B&B and visited the neighboring farm to pick carrots and greens. At Enchantment we picked peaches and had a tour of her property which is all off the grid and very charming. The afternoon was very leisurely, and we (the three guests for the evening) helped to prepare various aspects of the 4 courses. Dinner was prepared in an outdoor kitchen - it's a simple little set-up of a toaster oven, crock pot, and small refrigerator. . Everything reflected LisaAnn's commitment to local foods and living simply. Course 1 - crostini with heirloom tomatoes and local goat cheese. Course 2 - mixed green salad with peaches and basil. Course 3 - local rabbit (cooked in a crockpot) with baked/ roasted honey carrots. Course 4 - peaches in simple syrup and finished with sherry. I appreciated that things were a little loose and time was not of the essence. We talked about the land, the water, the people, and simple pleasure of good food with a glass of good wine. Her home is humble, and I was grateful to peek behind the curtain of the hustle and bustle of a tourist community and meet a local and be invited into her space. It's a rare experience and one that I recommend. I attended as a single (my family was racing bikes in Angel Fire) and I enjoyed meeting the other couple that attended.

It was a fun day. I enjoyed the wine tasting, picking the vegetables and helping to prepare the dinner, which was absolutely delicious! I had never had rabbit, so it was a new and very tasty experience for me. Everything just came together, and I really want to try some of the recipes at home - minus the rabbit, don't know where I'd get one, and I would just substitute chicken because the sauce was incredible. LisaAnn is very organized and thoughtful about the process, so we just kept moving along. We went later than expected, but we were having such a good time we only noticed when it started getting a little dark. Great outdoor kitchen!

This was a wonderful food-wine-cultural experience! I greatly enjoyed the entire day, from the expert assistance from Scott at the winery, who helped us select wines to pair with each course, to harvesting organic produce at local farms, to preparing an exquisite farm to table meal in LisaAnn’s outdoor kitchen! Although all the other participants canceled out last minute, to her credit LisaAnn ventured forth and continued with the event even though I was the only guest! We had a wonderful time! I’m very glad I stayed in town to attend this delicious and fun event!!
