Art tour with Kenyan art collector

Experience hosted by Sadia

3.5 hours
Includes drinks
Up to 10 people
Hosted in English

What you'll do

We will start the tour with going to Nairobi railways museum
Look at art pieces and talk to artists and what not
From there we go to Kobo trust and so the same
Usually by this time it’s lunch time and I always recommended a local restaurant nearby for lunch, first choice is always Coco Jambo
After we head to Kuoana trust where we see more art and crafts
Also visit a few African brand clothing stores

Depending on how tired the tourist is, the next step is to go to Karen side and check out out 3 art galleries there or just call it a day and have dinner
After that I end the night with a drink and band night performances
Other things to note
I suggest that you use über or bolt as to me they are the best taxi services
Always tell the drivers where you are as they don’t know how to use google maps (most of them)

I’m a Kenyan/ Egyptian biologist with a passion for art
What I offer is in depth exploration of the art scene in Kenya, Nairobi specifically. I have been to every Art Centre in town from GoDown to Kobo, you name it. Most of the places I’ll take you aren’t mentioned in any tourist sites too.
Many of these centers are open to public and most artists are welcome to an open dialogue about their art or art itself
Most of these small art centers have a lot of crazy talented artists but they don’t get great exposure due to mismanagement of funds by officials yet they still pay rent
For the past year I have been taking friends visiting, workmates and tourists around to visit these centers and many revealed it’s a hidden gem hence I decided to start doing the AirBnB tours
I started with Showaround.com first as it was recommend
