What you'll do

Wake up and smell the coffee! French press awaits you in my unique loft, where coffee bags from java-moments-past await new purpose making it easier to hold onto life!

In no time this fast craft will reduce land-fill growth and organize everything from crayons to groceries. Choose artistic color-blocked masterpieces, or a random patchwork of bag bodies to build your bag. If you like, bring your own coffee bags (though I have many), mine are thick Mylar. Many will already be flattened and laid out for you to choose up to 8, and I’ll guide you in tiling them into the panels you will need for the bag you choose.

Bag Plans based on number of bags used. These are inherently approximations, dependent on the bags chosen.

1-Bag Zip Pouch
Cosmetics, pencils, art supplies, coin purse...

2-Bag Lunch Sack
Roll top with freshness tabs to keep it closed, right off the original bag.

3-Bag Bottle Bag
Perfect for 2 bottles of wine!

4-Bag Back Pack
Super cute, what can I say?

5-Bag through 8-Bag Totes
Roomy, stable, strong, and conscientious.

Each one is made with stitching and/or taping. I’ll have stations set up for each task. Rolling the top edges and perfecting the square corners may take a moment of mind-over-Mylar finagling, but I have good tips to help you along the way.

Our pace will allow for coffee sips and conversation.
Other things to note
The front steps and 1 flight of stairs are required to get to our floor, but our apartment has a wide wheel chair accessible floor plan.

I take repurposing VERY seriously. My unique loft apartment was born from collected doors and fixtures, and is the cold-weather alternative to my garage studio below. I have been encouraging creativity in jewelry metals, and cottage crafts since 2006.

It is my experience that creativity is often a firework, a burst, shooting out in all directions, and less like an arrow in flight, meaning one thing sparks another, and another, and soon what began as fashion design somehow becomes repurposed coffee bag totes!

Second life through creativity makes art and utility happen. I have a degree in Fashion Design, have been the art director at Knitter’s Magazine, and the owner of JOE’S Garage. Let me spark your creative fuse. Let’s see how you shine!
