What you'll do

This vibrant Lonely Planet Berlin tour starts in the very heart of Berlin's new government quarter, where you'll hear the amazing story of the world-renowned Reichstag and get up close and personal to some of the original sites of the apocalyptic Battle of Berlin in 1945, which put an end to the horrors of Nazi Germany.

You will learn more about the historical events, modern places and landmarks that have made Berlin what it is today. We explore the Brandenburg Gate and the beautiful Pariser Platz before walking through the Memorial to the murdered Jews of Europe, the former Nazi Ministries, the ‘Topography of Terror’, and 'The Wall' at Checkpoint Charlie. You will hear stories of the Cold War, GDR fugitives and day-to-day life in divided Germany.

Next we’ll take a stroll along one of the city’s most well-known grand boulevards, Friedrichstraße and the tour will end at what is widely regarded as the most beautiful square in Berlin: Gendarmenmarkt, site of three impressive buildings: The German and the French Cathedral and Schinkel's Konzerthaus (concert hall), which brings us back to the Prussian times. Here we will relax with a delicious German snack lunch and a refreshing beer.

Please keep in mind that our tour goes deeply into the German history and leaves you with a lot of very interesting and knowledgeable insight about our past!

We are friends, working as city guides for Urban Adventures in Berlin. We are passionate about this city we are proud to call our home! We love exploring off the beaten track, discovering culinary delights, learning obscure languages..We cycle, we dance, we love cooking, learning obscure languages, walk in flip flops as soon as the first rays come out..we are historians and writers, anthropologists and actors, but above all we are storytellers and we want to share these stories with you.

Tolle Tour zu Fuss durch die Allgemeinplätze der Innenstadt und deren Geschichte. Gibt einen guten Überblick und ersten Eindruck für Neulinge in Berlin. Sympathische Tourleitung, sehr sprachgewandt.

Our host provided a very enthusiastic and insightful tour of Berlin. Ioana showed us all of the key sights and historical monuments the city has to offer. Without our Ioana, we would never of had the access to the knowledge of the city’s history. Nothing to fault- a very intimidate group made it engaging and the value for money is excellent.

We were a family of 6, with four kids ranging in ages up to 13 years. We had a fabulous time. Our host Ioanna was amazing and went out of her way to make sure everyone in the group was well looked after. It was definitely not too long. I would highly recommend this tour. You will not regret it.

Loana was a fabulous host with a bunch of knowledge on all the history of Berlin. She involved everyone and always kept us informed of activities and other things to check out while in Berlin. It did rain a bit on our tour but that did not stop her from showing us all of the historical landmarks. Highly recommend.

Dimitrios is a terrific guide: knowledgeable, friendly and never boring! I appreciated the information and his sense of humor. Also, it was so cold that day Dimitrios took the time to find warm spots to tell stories. That went a long way with the group. The tour went longer than planned which was a pleasant surprise. Normally people want to just get their shift over with. Thank you Dimitrios!
