My mom taught me to sew at 6 years old and I received a BA in Costume and Textile Design in 1985. For the last 40 + years I have been a costume designer, custom dressmaker for weddings, proms, uniforms until I felt the call to teach sewing classes in 1999. Teaching local, private sewing classes has helped me to develop my own style of interacting with students by keeping the classes small, to have direct interaction with the students. It also enabled me to heed the call to teach classes internationally in Kenya and Papua New Guinea where women needed encouragement in learning this skill.

About the organisation: Dallas Designing Dreams

We nurture the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of individuals with “Dreams or Broken Dreams” and provide them with new inspirations and opportunities for their innovative ideas and products. By doing so, we enrich the community by introducing one-of-a-kind art and handmade products to the local marketplace and e-Market to offer alternatives to mainstream shopping.

This is a social impact experience where 100% of what you pay for this experience goes to Dallas Designing Dreams.

Where you'll be

The Dallas Designing Dreams studio is located inside the South Side on Lamar Lofts building, (formerly the Sears Roebuck building) which honors its Gilded Age while transporting residents into the Downtown Dallas scene. Within the residences there are numerous retail shops, artist quarters, luxury amenities such as a rooftop pool, vintage theater, concierge and more.
