What you'll do
I’ve led ethnojunkets through most of New York City's ethnic neighborhoods at one time or another; we’ve eaten our way through the Chinatowns of Manhattan, Flushing, and Sunset Park, enjoyed Filipino, Indian, Bangladeshi, and South American treats in Jackson Heights and Woodside, and prowled around Staten Island’s Sri Lankan area – to name but a few.
On this tour, we’ll focus on the famous Chinese food courts of Flushing, Queens. We’ll taste great versions of the familiar, like xiao long bao (soup dumplings) as well as the unfamiliar, like Taiwanese wheel cakes. It’s a veritable cornucopia of food so bring your appetite; you won’t leave hungry, and you will leave happy!
I always try to customize the tour depending upon the interests of the group. For example, if enough folks want to check out a massive Asian supermarket, we can take some time to scope it out; I’ll answer your questions about all that strange produce and those intriguing jars, cans, and packages wrapped in seemingly indecipherable labels.
Other things to note
I can usually open up a specific date if the one you’re looking for isn’t available on the calendar. Don’t hesitate to reach out: I can most likely accommodate you!

Call me Ethnojunkie. I live to absorb ethnic cultures – the music, the languages, and especially the cuisines. Most of all, I enjoy turning folks on to flavors they’ve never experienced. That’s what my ethnojunkets are all about: food-focused walking tours through NYC’s many ethnic enclaves. As a licensed Sightseeing Guide and an inveterate storyteller, this is my passion. Where you'll be
We’ll visit the heart of Flushing’s Chinatown where we’ll taste more than a dozen diverse dishes, all within about a four block radius. We'll sample regional delights from all over China: Central (Henan), Southern (Guangzhou), Northwestern (Shaanxi and the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region), Eastern (Shanghai), and Taiwan as well. And as if that weren’t enough, we’ll finish with some amazingly rich Chinese influenced American ice cream!

Unique, informative and delicious. I've always wanted to know more about the epicenter of the most diverse county in the US - and I learned more than I ever expected. Rich loves what he does; his knowledge and enthusiasm made this a very special experience. There were at least 10 dishes to taste and desert was the best of its kind. (I won't reveal where we stopped - Ill leave that to him!). Its highly recommend this experience.
