Aya & Shawn
Aloha! My name is Shawn. I have been living in Hawaii for over 15 years. First in Oahu, then to Big Island. I’ve been making this hat for many years now. The art of palm hat weaving is called “Lau Niu Art” in Hawaii, which has been told among local Hawaiians. I also learned this art from my Hawaiian teacher, Kumu. However, there are only few people left on this island that cherishes this beautiful Lau Niu culture. Myself and other staffs on site will be happy to share this knowledge and assist you throughout this experience. Don’t miss out this perfect opportunity to weave your first palm hat!
