What you'll do

A fabulous way to complete your day in Dingle, whether you're a photographer or you just want to relax and take in the wonderful seascapes and sweeping vistas we’ll encounter as we journey towards sunset.

We depart Dingle in the early evening, following the Wild Atlantic Way as it winds beside some of the most stunning coastal scenery that Ireland has to offer. As the day draws to a close, we take in the quieter evening mood and atmosphere at some of the more well-known and iconic locations, as well as visiting some of my favourite spots that are hidden away along the rugged coastline.

Whatever camera or phone you are using to capture the incredible views we’ll discover, there's ongoing tuition, advice and tips on composition and framing and positioning elements within your photograph. If you want to be more adventurous there are tripods and filters available and you’re encouraged to get out of your comfort zone and experiment with long exposure and low light photography. Depending on the time of year and the prevailing weather conditions, I'll choose our final location, where we’ll stop to catch the sunset and perhaps a touch of colour in the skies to finish the tour.
Other things to note
A superb evening out, even if you'd just like sightseeing! Be sure to bring a fully charged camera or phone. We can always make quick stops for restrooms, toilets and drinks during the tour.

Hi! I'm George, I’ve been photographing the amazing beauty of the Dingle Peninsula all my life, both as an amateur and a professional photographer and I know Dingle like the back of my hand! I became a professional photographer in Dingle during 2000, specialising in film and darkroom landscape photography and my work has been published in books and purchased by collectors from across the world. Since 2016, I’ve been leading photography tours and workshops with Dingle Darkroom that combine a fabulous learning experience with exploring the magical and stunning landscape of Co Kerry.

Where you'll be

We follow the Slea Head Drive from Dingle, visiting the iconic landscapes at Slea Head, Coumeenoole and Dunquin. On departing Dunquin Pier, we explore some of the rocky beaches and rugged coastline that I’ve discovered as a photographer during the last 30 years. These are often found away from the main roads and are occasionally at the end of a very bumpy farm track, which just ends in an incredible and yet rarely experienced ocean vista.

A great afternoon despite the disappointing sunset (cest la vie) George is very personable and obviously an expert in his field however one of the greatest benefits he brings is his in depth knowledge of those “special spots” I would have missed had I gone it alone. Great value for money. Highly recommended!

This tour was amazing. The sites were spectacular and George added to the scenery by teaching me the proper way to shoot a photo. I learned the thirds rule and he showed me how to add gridlines to my camera phone. He added so much by telling stories of what the local people do. Even if you do not want to take pictures, you should do this tour of Slea Head drive. Much more personal and comfortable than a bus trip. I even forgot my wallet and George brought it back to the bar I was staying above. Irish hospitality is a real thing!

Highlight of our trip to Dingle ! Wonderful guide and very knowledgeable about photography and the area. Warm and personal. Tailored 5 star experience. The location is incredible, but there are bits we would not have seen without George's expertise. Thanks again for a lovely afternoon. We will cherish the memories, learning, and new passion to learn more about photography.

George was a wonderful host and guide. The weather was a little rainy but we still managed to take some splendid pictures under his guidance. And we learned so much about Dingle along the way. Highly recommended.

George was exceptionally kmowledgajle about photography and Dingle. I can honestly say I left the experience well informed about photography techniques and able to take better photos. In addition, George took the tour to places I had never seen before around Dingle and made them accessible. The tour was well thought out but also very spontaneous allowing us to take full advantage of the changing light and weather conditions. I highly recommend engaging George for a tour of Dingle that you will not forget.
