What you'll do

Get prepared for the next 4 - 5 hours getting to know Mexico City from a chilango's perspective.
First, we will meet at the heart of Mexico City: Zocalo station. I will share both unknown as well as political facts about this historic place. Then get prepared to get into the subway to go to the south of CDMX to visit a famous "cantina" in Tlalpan: the people are very kind and are happy to share a lot of histories about the barrio.
After that, we have 2 more spots in the city, we'll move to the Southwest of CDMX: Coyoacan, where you can find Frida Khalo's house, a colorful market and the cultural movement in this area.
We will take our last subway to the center and I'll show you some pulqueria in bellas artes to let you experience the life of the local laborers in this area. During our trip, you will get to know different kinds of music and street art, changing constantly.
I am looking forward to showing you my city!
We can, of course, also stop at places of interest apart from the itinerary.
Other things to note
It's easy to get to Zocalo Station by taking line #2 (blue line)

I'm a Mexican guy living in this big capital, I want to show you the city thru my experience, because I think is the one way to get involved into the Mexican culture, traditions, colors as well as sociopolitical life in the capital.
I traveled thru many South American countries within the past 3 years but for me, this city offers unique flavors you have to get to know. However, travel experiences are of most importance to me as a regular traveller, thats why I want to share my experiences about CDMX about chilangos life with you - either in Spanish, English, French, Portuguese or German.

Ricardo was THE best guide experience that I have ever had through Airbnb or anyplace else. He had perfect English and was vibrant, knowledgeable and so passionate about Mexico City. I was very fortunate because I was the only guest on this experience so Ricardo asked me if there was anything that I wanted to see. I told him that I wanted to go to a bookstore so he took me to a great bookstore. We paused to look at historical exhibits and photographs in the subway hallways. He was so knowledgeable about the history and culture of Mexico and Mexico City. He loves the city and it’s subways. I told him that I had read several articles that portrayed the Mexico City subway system as unsafe for women. He assured me that it was safe. We were riding in the middle of the day and some trains were crowded but most were not. Ricardo explained the etiquette and best way to maneuver. I am now confident and I am not afraid of riding the subway in Mexico. I enjoyed learning how to travel through the city in the way that the majority of the city residents travel. Thank you Ricardo for an outstanding experience! I highly recommend this trip to all!

I had an awesome (and exhausting!!) tour with Ricardo and his dad (who also joined - which was pretty good as I also got stories and tidbits from his dad). We went to so many places that I would never had gone to on my own - it was truly a superb experience. It wasn’t exactly what was described in the tour description, but it was still quite good anyways. Ricardo is very friendly, always made sure I was comfortable, happy, and consulted me to on what I liked, preferences etc.. The only “flaw” was he occasionally seemed disorganized on occasion, unsure as to directions of subway etc.., which could seem a bit surprising - but in the end we did go to many places, discovered so much, and I always felt safe. Definitely recommend the tour!!

I arrived over 30 minutes early because I confused the meeting time and the time the tour lasted, but Ricardo was very accomodating and met me early. He did inform me he had a quick errand to run nearby as he'd been on his way there when I notified him I was at the meeting place already. I was grateful that he came to meet me quickly even though I was the one who had made the error. We were on our way within five minutes. This tour was super rad! If you're looking for an adventure that takes you off the beaten path to find hidden gems that typically only locals get to see, this is for you! Ricardo is a native of Mexico City and gave me a lot of insight of what local everyday life is like. We stopped at cool metro stations. One had different artists paintings of Emiliano Zapata on the pilars and another had an ancient pyramid in the middle. We walked through China town and stopped by a Pulqueria (it was delicious). Ricardo was so friendly and passionate about his city. It felt like I was hanging out with a new friend!
